Things We Have Read Lately!

Darra and I have read a lot books lately. I know...SHOCKING!!! We have been trying to get back to reading the same books so that we can honestly give you each of our opinions. For a little bit we over loaded ourselves and had to divide and conquer. So we thought we would tell y'all about some books that have made us CRY, scared the H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS out of us, made us LOL and don't forget some of the HOTTEST books out there!

Tear Jerking Cry Fest Books!!!

We all know that every now and then we need a good cry. We are not emotional people. We have read a couple of books in the past couple of months that have made us ball like little babies. So congrats to the authors that pulled on our heart strings enough to make us blubbering messes and we totally recommend these books!

This book...seriously you will be a snotty mess. I had a bad week and knew that I needed to purge my feelings that weekend. I got home and started the book around 6:30 or 7 and finished it at like 2AM. I went from tears just running down my face to the snot running down my face and actually crying enough that my dog was trying to get in my lap and make me feel better. My eyes were swollen the next morning and bloodshot. I wish there were more than 5 stars for this book. I think everyone should read it.

While reading this synopsis you would never think this book will make you cry. So why do I have it in here? There are other characters in this book that will make your heart break over and over. While we love Kenzie and Kane, Tessa's story caused tears to just roll down my face. I had to stop and text Darra asking her why she didn't tell me I was going to cry. Her response: "Why would I tell you? I wanted to make sure you grieve with me." Well, she got her wish, I ugly cried.

LOL until you pee a little bit!!!!

This book was not LOL the whole time but there are a couple of parts that will totally getting you rolling laughing! I mean like OMG I could totally see this happening in real life and I would die laughing if I knew this happened to someone. The best part of this, I only know of 1 other authors that talks about this specific act realistically. Normally in books this is glossed over and is totally made to be thought glamorous. Trust us, you need to read this book to find out about this stuff.

I am not going to put the synopsis up for these books. They are all hilarious and we text each other during all of these books needing to talk about how funny they were. If you ever need a pick me up book to put you in a better mood, Meghan Quinn is your go to author and these books are the best.

Books that will make you go WTF did I just read!!

All of these books are really crazy jacked up stories. I wonder what the deal is when we read these and love them. When I say love them, I mean we want to know more. For a long time all of the books we were reading were romance and happily ever afters. I love a good HEA but sometimes you need to change it up. I didn't realize that were changing it up this much....

This book...wow! I was literally like WTF just happened. There are so many things wrong in here. I loved it in the way that a book will forever stay with you. It has a lot of twists and turns. One part made me stop and just shake my head at the authors. I was like I can't believe you just did that to me! You need to check this book out if you love some suspense and want to wonder about the world (and the authors).

We have talked about this book before and Tony Rawlins is still one of my top villains. I seriously can't believe the way this book went and I am working my way through the rest of the series. Tony is out of control crazy and he has stuck with me for a couple of years. I think this was the first book that we read like this and honestly I don't know what to say about it. There are so many parts that made me cringe and a little sick to my stomach.

Oh, Tara Dawn. I love this author and how she reminded me what small town southern living was like. She could have been describing so many people that I knew at one point. This is a trilogy and I can't wait for the rest of it. It is so realistic to me and so freaking crazy. I can't even tell you all the feelings going through me when I read this book. I will say that when I saw the second book, Taint show up on my Kindle last night I squealed a little bit. I did not start it because you have to be in a place where you can devour her books in one sitting. All I can say is Welcome to Crazy Town if you are going to read these books.

Hot like Fire!!!!

Oh holy hotness!!! I would kill for a guy like Noah. I mean if you are going to read this one, you need to make sure you have a fan going so that you don't combust. The book and story are really great and I can honestly say that Noah stuck with me. I can't say it enough, read this book!

I liked this book in some ways and hated it in other ways. It is freaking ahhhhmazingly hot though! I am torn on the characters in the book but I totally LOVE the middle of this book. You so need to go get this and read this! I have to give props to Summer for going through with this plan. I don't think I could although I feel like this is so many girls' fantasy!

Hope you enjoyed some of our book choices and hopefully you found something you would like to read this weekend. Let us know if you have recommendations for us. We love getting feedback!!!

Pre-Order Ink & Lies by S.L. Jennings!!

Prologue

You know that pivotal moment in every love story, when the hero or heroine makes an imperative move that leaves the other with a life-altering choice? Whether it be a pronouncement of love (I’ve been in love with you my entire life, and I don’t care that you’re my stepbrother) or a salacious secret (I’m pregnant and the baby isn’t yours) or a shocking decision (I’ve decided to embrace what I am… I’m transitioning into a unicorn, and I’m pregnant by my stepbrother), we can always count on this familiar occurrence.

I’ve always deemed them cliché yet necessary in the romance genre. A good plot twist is as vital to a story as its characters. Without it, the hero and heroine would have no reason to change, to evolve. They’d have no reason to step out on faith and madness and take hold of their destiny. Take hold of their story.

I once lived for the perfect plot twist.

I just never expected to actually live it.

I look down at my boarding pass for the eightieth time in the last fifteen minutes. Gate 3B, Seat 2A. GEG to LAX. Final boarding in…now.

Sixteen hours ago, I succumbed to the insanity of feeling, and made my crucial confession. I began that almighty trek up a story’s climactic mountain. And every hour, every minute, since, I’ve waited for her to make her choice.

To make me her choice.

The attendant glares at me from over her intercom receiver and announces that the gate for flight D5611 will be closing in sixty seconds. She’s saying it for only me, because I’m the only one here. Waiting. Crumbling.

I take one last look down the corridor that leads to security. I just knew that she’d show up, racing through the airport, screaming for someone to stop the plane. That was how I’d imagined my story…our story. The greatest cliché of all, and I still couldn’t breathe it into fruition. I still couldn’t get her to read between the lines scrawled on my heart.

I guess the most epic romances are still tucked away within the pages of her favorite novels, safely swathed in inked lies and faded paper promises. Forever fictional. Just like love.

Blurb

From International Best Selling Romance Novelist, Hope Hughes, comes a gripping, heartfelt tale of two lovers, fighting for the freedom to…

No. Scratch that. Too cheesy.

…two people, torn apart by the tumultuous tides of life, only to discover refuge in…

WTF? What does that even mean? DELETE.

…two people, confused as shit as to where they should be and who they should love and none of this means a damn thing because it’s all lies!

Lies.

I’m not Hope Hughes. I’m not some fierce woman romance machine. Hell, I’m not even a woman.

I’m a liar.

And while I refuse to believe my own BS, deceit masked in heartfelt phrases of love and devotion, I want to make her believe them. Because maybe—just maybe—if she can find the soul within my words, she’ll also be able to find the truth scribbled on my heart.

You see, I once lived for the perfect plot twist.

I just never expected to actually live it.

This is my story. Well, maybe her story. I just wish I could make it our story.

The one I’m still writing.

Am I a book Snob? Our Breakdown of 2014

When someone that does not read on a daily basis will come to ask you, “What kind of books do you read?”
What do you say? I read romance novels? Or a little of everything? Personally I think those people pigeonhole all books that are not Non Fiction, as romance fluff.
I cannot disagree more. A book always must have a solid story. Yes, it may have a little bit of love. However I think that many nonreaders miss that point. If you are a person that can only read Biographies and John Grisham, you are missing some of the top Best Selling Books of the year.
Check out my list of reads of 2014.

Taint Cover Reveal!!!

Title: Taint

Author: S.L. Jennings
Expected publication: May 20th 2014

Goodreads

Blurb:

Right now, you’re probably asking yourself two things:
Who am I?
And, what the hell are you doing here?

Let’s start with the most obvious question, shall we?

You’re here, ladies, because you can’t f*ck.

Oh, stop it. Don’t cringe. No one under the age of 80 clutches their pearls.
You might as well get used to it, because for the next six weeks, you’re going to hear that word a lot. And you’re going to say it a lot.
Go ahead, try it out on your tongue.
F*ck. F***ck.

Ok, good. Now where were we?

If you enrolled yourself in this program then you are wholly aware that you’re a lousy lay. Good for you. Admitting it is half the battle.

For those of you that have been sent here by your husband or significant other, dry your tears and get over it. You’ve been given a gift, ladies. The gift of mind-blowing, wall-climbing, multiple-orgasm-inducing sex. You have the opportunity to f*ck like a porn star. And I guarantee, you will when I’m done with you.

And who am I?

Well, for the next six weeks, I will be your lover, your teacher, your best friend, and your worst enemy. Your every-f*cking-thing. I’m the one who is going to save your relationship and your sex life.

I am Justice Drake.
And I turn housewives into whores.

Now…who’s first?

EXCERPT!!!!

From TAINT, by S.L. Jennings:

“Unless he’s completely desperate or under the influence, a man can’t - and won’t - fuck what doesn’t get him hard.”

Less gasps this time, but every perfectly powdered face is beet red with embarrassment, causing my mouth to slide into a sardonic smirk.

Truth be told, I love this shit. I love ruffling their meticulously groomed feathers. Their obvious discomfort entertains me. Seeing the rosy hue of coyness bleed through their blush is like a balm to my little, sadistic soul.

“And in that case,” I continue, “you don’t want him anyway. What you do want is for him to be salivating at the soles of your Jimmy Choos. And let’s face it, ladies… that’s not happening. Why do you think that is?”

Crickets. Fucking crickets.

“Anyone? Come on, ladies. I can’t help you unless you want to be helped. So unless you all have picture-perfect marriages and husbands that blow your backs out on a regular, I should see some hands.”

This time I’m rewarded with the almost simultaneous intake of eleven breaths. They’re all still here. All willing to bare their souls and dirty laundry in an attempt to rekindle the doused flame between their thighs.

You see, women are liars.

Yeah, I said it. L-I-A-R-S.

They want intimacy just as badly as men do. But to them, intimacy is more than just the physical act of sex. They want to be cherished yet want a man that will get down and dirty. They want tenderness, but crave to be banged like a $2 hooker. They want a man that’ll go all night, but still have the energy to kiss and cuddle and talk about their feelings afterward.

Listen up, ladies. We’re fucking tired! You try going jackrabbit-style, throw in some Cirque du Soleil moves and see if you can keep your eyelids peeled. Us passing out after sex is a compliment- a testament to how good it was. And quite frankly, if your dude can hop out of the sack and go to work or run a marathon, then he still has energy left for sex. He’s just done having sex with you.

THIS WEEK!!!

So it is already Tuesday and let me tell you this week is flying FAST!!! This week is SUPPOSED to be REREAD week but as you know...it never turns out that way!!! So just to keep you up to date on what I am doing (I know you are dying with anticipation!)...

What I have read since last Wednesday...

1. Wait for You by Jennifer L. Armentrout writing as J. Lynn. If you have not read this book you really need to. I LOVE Cam. He isn't blond but he is blue eyed. Soccer player...YUMMY! Anyways, this is a new adult book and I can honestly say that I have NEVER read a book by Jennifer that I don't like. She is really awesome and you seriously need to look into ALL her books!  She is writing this story from Cam's POV and I CAN'T WAIT!!

2.  Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. Another author that has all GREAT books! If you
have not read anything by her go pick one. You can't go wrong. I personally like Hopeless better than Slammed but it is just barely better. I reread Hopeless in anticipation of Losing Hope coming out this week (Holder's POV!!!). It is on my to read list!!!

3.  Embody by Jamie Magee!! I know this is not a reread but I HAD TO!!! I love Landen and Willow and couldn't help myself. Look for this review to be out soon. I can't get enough of the Insight Series! Jamie has written an AWESOME world that I would love to live in. (I will tell you more soon)

4. The Party by Katie Ashley. Another new on but kinda old b/c it is a short prequel
to The Proposition. Just reminded me that I kinda love Aidan!! If you have read The Proposition and The Proposal by Katie Ashley I totally recommend The Party. It is the one where Emma shoots Aidan down...so AWESOME!! You also get to see her fight with Connor & how she is dealing with the loss of Travis (so sad but worth it).

5.  Darra and I both read a certain ZOMBIE book that will be a blog stop tomorrow. (make sure you check it out)  You can see what we thought there.

6.  I am now reading Fear of Falling by S. L. Jennings. I am REALLY REALLY LOVING IT. I will have a review up for it as soon as I finish it. If you have not read the Dark Light series GO GET IT!!! This book is different from that series but SO GOOD. Blaine is so close to perfect...southern accent, big truck, tattoos...unfortunately brown hair and brown eyes...oh well...what can you do.

Now what to do...I am pretty sure that I am going to be done with Fear of Falling tonight if not definitely tomorrow. So I am trying to figure out who I need to revisit. I am thinking Braden from On Dublin Street. I really like Joss too so that is probably a good one...I ALWAYS want to go back and revisit Phillip and Danny from That Boy and That Wedding...I am pretty sure That Baby is supposed to be coming soon...I really want to go back to Barrons and Mac in the Fever Series (that is a 5 book commitment right there...so worth it!!!) Or there is Remy from Real (Darra just finished that one), Jonah from Fighting for Flight, Woods from Twisted Perfection, Alexander from the Healers, Marcus from Cautious...

So many FREAKING good choices...I don't know what to do...hmmm....so I guess you guys can pick if you want...you have until tomorrow!!!
