Vouloir: French meaning ‘to want’. Want: To have a desire to possess something or someone; To have a strong desire to do something; To wish for something or someone; To desire sexually; To require something to be attended to in a particular manner. Sexual Therapist by day and desirable Domme by night, La Veuve Noire is struggling to keep up with demand for her services. Whether it’s fixing them up or tying them down, Veuve’s skills are legendary. Juggling her demanding roles with looking after a mysterious nineteen year old, the Kid, her life is a balancing act. But the tart with a heart cannot resist taking on ‘just one more’ client. The problem is, there’s always ‘just one more’ client, and each one appears more needy than the last. Like Dean, the barman who’s taken advantage of his drunken boss and has to face up to being a flop between the sheets. Like Dan, a teenager in crisis who is contemplating the unthinkable. Juggling so much inevitably means that something gets dropped occasionally. La Veuve Noire, The Black Widow, hates to fail at anything and like everything in life, the higher the stakes, the greater the potential loss. With everyone turning to her in sheer desperation, she turns to her usual means of escape: the club, Vouloir. But Vouloir now holds a reminder of a distant past she strives to forget. Blond hair, blue eyes and unmistakable dominance tinged with danger. Is Jones the key to the Kid’s future? Or will he simply unlock the painful past? This three part series runs parallel/post parallel with Rouge Passion and features some of RP’s characters but it can be read as a standalone series. WARNING: CONTAINS EXPLICIT CONTENT SUITABLE FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY. CONTAINS BDSM ELEMENTS AND POTENTIAL TRIGGERS FOR SOME READERS.

I love reading - almost as much as I love writing.. I relish the sheer escapism of losing myself in a book that grips me and takes me on an emotional roller coaster. I regularly mourn the passing of a good book - am I the only one who turns the pages more slowly when you don’t want a great book to end? I love a good steamy romance and I adore sexy alpha males. I also have more than a passing interest in BDSM (nod, nod … wink, wink). One day, I put pen to paper (well fingers to keyboard, actually) and the Orion the Hunter series was born. Little did I know that, at that moment, I was sowing the seeds of change. For, just a few months later, as a somewhat bewildered Amazon Kindle bestselling Indie author, I quit my career as an education professional to write full time. Scary stuff, I think you’ll agree. 2013 was a very difficult year for me for personal reasons. It taught me how fragile life is and how important it is to grab it with both hands and ride the hell out of it. So in 2014, I began my comeback with the Amazon #1 Bestselling Erotica/Romantic Erotica bestselling series, Rouge Passion. I also met many of my favourite authors and so many lovely readers at my first signing event in Edinburgh. I flipped Stu Reardon’s kilt! Happy days … I have big plans for 2015. I’m signing at several more author events around the UK and I’m pouring my heart and soul into what I consider my best series yet - by far! Cue Passion Noire, a three part series revolving around La Veuve Noire - a sexual therapist by day and a desirable Domme by night. But fear not, sexy alphas are still on the menu. I mean … this is me!

SYNOPSIS

Lennox Collins is a spoiled and pretentious twenty-something; believing anyone living below the poverty line should be extinguished from the earth. In reality, she’s no different from those she thinks are beneath her since she pathetically reaps from her father’s wealth. After reluctantly saving a strange homeless man from his demise, she slowly discovers a new being within herself. While she nurses him back to health, her daily ritual and sleeping patterns begin to evolve into a life she could never fathom. There’s only one problem though; the deeper she goes, the less she can differentiate between reality and her own mind. *This is a contemporary romance with supernatural elements*

EXCERPT

A hand scanted along my thigh leaving a hot sizzle in its path. A gasp passed through my lips as fear trickled up through my chest. My eyes flashed open, but I was unable to see who was drudging up a desire from my core. His calloused finger pressed over my lips. "Shh… it’s okay. It’s me," he whispered, his breath tickling my neck. He didn’t have to say who it was; I knew his voice well by now. After all, he’d invaded my life and I seemed to have lost all control over my mental state. Aaron was hovered over me with both arms stationed on each side of my head. The moonlight streamed through the curtains generating enough light to illuminate the shadow across his face. His eyes stared at me hungrily with lust. I reached up to skim my fingertips over his injured ribs and found his skin bare. His eyes widened along with mine as I realized his entire body was bare. A tingling sensation seized my core and I lifted my hips in seek of relief. That was all it took for Aaron. He lowered his head and his mouth was on mine, stealing my breath, my sounds, my sexual thirst. Taking his knees, he pushed my legs apart and his toned quads pressed down between my thighs. The feeling of skin on skin was exhilarating. I could feel his hardened length graze along the top of my inner thigh, teasing the sensitive lips below. My breathing became shallow with need.

Sunny's Review:

Lately I have been a little blah when it comes to the books I have been reading. Not a lot were holding my attention and I was bored with so many of them. I was like "Oh no here we go. Another little spoiled rich girl who thinks the world owes her everything" and I am not going to lie...you will HATE Lennox in the beginning. I mean I wanted her to be real just so I could punch her in the face. So annoying! As I was reading it was one of those nights where I was falling asleep because it was like 2AM and then I would jerk awake and be like I need to keep reading. Once I got past the loathing of Lennox I couldn't put this book down. Aaron was interesting. He was awesome and then totally surprising. I mean there was a day that I would just look up at Darra (we sit next to each other) and be like "REALLY??!! He did THAT???!!!???" Obviously you are going to have to read the book to find out what I am talking about. I mean wow.

This book is a little bit different than other books and I love the twists in it. It was a book that made me message the author. There are very few that I feel that strongly about. Luckily Jill Patten is super awesome and put up with me!

I am giving this book 4.5 stars. It is a really good book. I am not going to tell you if I ever ended up liking Lennox or not. I feel like you should decide on your own.

Seriously, go get this book! Plus, Jill has another series out. Toxic was free last time I checked. I have not had time to get to it yet but I downloaded it!

Darra's Review:

Sunny and I are thinking similar on this book. I believe my hatred for Lennox was top notch, grade A bitch. A little much? Not really. Really crappy person in the beginning. Aaron? Loved. Super sweet. Except there is one thing that is wrong. You will find out.
I don't even hold being homeless against him. I knew he had to have an interesting story. It was a book that confused me. Which is good. As Sunny says, there are a lot of books out there with the same story. Just different names. You can't place this book with the rest of unread books on your kindle(I might be one of those people).

I am looking forward to many more from Jill. I liked her writing and flew through the book in a couple of days.

Rating the same as Sunny, 4.5.

ABOUT JILL PATTEN

Jill Patten was born a Yankee, but raised a southerner. She lives in the small town of Mayberry, North Carolina which was made famous by a popular TV show back in the sixties. (Maybe there will one day be a statue of her at the end of Main Street. Ha! A girl can dream, right?) Jill has always loved to read, even during reading labs in middle school for reading comprehension. Judy Blume was her first author she hero-worshipped, maturing to revere the works of Stephen King. With all the fantastic authors today, she simply cannot choose a favorite. Her taste is very eclectic and she loves almost all genres. When she's not captivated by her fictional characters, she spends time with her sweet husband and two beautiful children. Music is her muse. Jill also loves elephants, sarcasm, and anything made with sugar, especially sweet tea. She enjoys all things rude and crude and laughs at stuff she probably shouldn't. She has been accused of being bossy a time or two, but doesn't really see it herself. All in all, Jill is just a small town girl in this great big world trying to enable your book addiction. Oh, and if you read her book, please leave her a review - good or bad, she'll love you forever.

Darra's Review:

I read The Red Door right before this and I was overloaded with a million emotions. Both books hit me like a train. And then backed up, and ran me over again. To say The Black Door was intense is an understatement. The book absolutely blew my mind. I have never read a book that had a storyline that never stopped. Never a boring part to the book.
At the ending of The Red Door, I knew that Becca had been scared past the limit. It was heartbreaking how the book ended. It was a story that must be told. I am glad she started to change back into her old self. But also knew she was still scarred. Honestly, it was hard to read at times. Such horrid things happen to her. It was sometimes hard to bear what happened to Becca along with other women.
There is a possibility this could happen in. Repulsive people. However I was still looking for some sort of closure for Becca. It may not have happened as a happily ever after, but it left the story with me with thoughts of what if....

I would rate this a 4.5.
excerpt

The only conversation in the car was letting me know which turns to take. Left. Straight. On ramp. Off ramp. Right. On ramp. I had driven for nearly an hour before I noticed we weren’t going anywhere. Deciding I had enough, I pulled into a gas station and turned to look at him.
“What’s your name? Your real name?” I asked him.
“Are you into real names now? Tell me, should I keep calling you Rebecca. Or maybe Becca? What about Miss Young or Mrs. Turner? Or the almost Future Mrs. Williamson. There was another in there, too. Can’t remember but it doesn’t matter, does it? It’s just a name.” My skin felt tight as he talked about me. He knew me.
I had no clue who he was, and he knew me. “Nice parking, by the way. Right in front of the video camera. Now if I raise the gun, it will be recorded. But then again, to shoot you, I don’t need to raise my hand. A bullet will go through the seat just fine.”
“What do you want from me?”
“Everything. Nothing. I don’t even know. You are the golden egg. So many promises can be filled for you, but I can’t decide which one to pick over the others.”
“I don’t know what you are talking about.”
“Of course, you don’t. They probably have not told you shit about the investigation. Do you know who is all involved?”
I shook my head. Knowing some but not wanting to give him information he might not have.
“Alex, Mitch, Calvin, Colby, Josh - or Sledge as you know him - Adam, Diana, even Jackson to some degree is involved. More, too, but those are the guys you know. And you know your parents helped out before, so why wouldn’t they be helping now?”
I watched him waiting. Wanting to know what else he knew.
He kept going. “They are all sharing information trying to track down Robert and whoever else is involved.” He stared at me waiting for some reaction he thought I should have.
I said nothing.
“I thought you were a smart girl, Rebecca. What information do they have to go over? What did they recover from the cabin? From Mark’s house? From the warehouse? Probably from the Williamson’s?”
“I don’t know. DNA samples.” I was fighting to keep my breathing normal. I had been free for ten months now. Ten months and I was finally finding me again. I didn’t look over my shoulder constantly. I wasn’t afraid of facing Robert anymore. I wasn’t scared of the truth coming out and being arrested for the deaths I had caused as an act of mercy.
“Rebecca, you’re thinking like a nurse. Think like a detective for a minute. What would the guys working the scenes find at those places that they would have to spend hours reviewing?”
“I don’t know. There were body fluids and blood, and all kinds of stuff with DNA.” I wiped at my eyes trying to stop the tears.
“Right, but what else. What about Mark’s house? The Williamson’s? What about the room for auction?”
“There was a staging area and chairs. A mic and…Oh, God. No.” I sucked a breath. It hurt like tiny little needles.

New Release! Hidden Violet by Vivian Winslow. Don't forget the Giveaway!

HIDDEN VIOLET

Vivian Winslow

The Vi Trilogy, #2

The Gilded Flower Series, #8

Genre: Erotic Romance
SYNOPSIS

With her hidden past about to be exposed, Vi turns to her longtime friend and confidant, Thomas Squires, for help. Yet, they may just risk exposing their feelings for each other in the process. When Lily’s engagement to Alejandro is threatened by ex-lover Gustavo, Vi is forced to come clean with her best friend and possibly destroy the lives of those she loves. Now that her secrets are no longer hidden, Vi faces the most difficult challenge yet—how to build a new life for herself outside of the shadows.

EXCERPT

Chapter 29
Vi takes a few deep breaths. She never prepared herself for the moment when she’d have to confess everything to her friends. Keeping secrets seemed natural for her, a form of self-protection, at least that’s how she saw it. As her life began to unravel, she couldn’t help but wonder if she had lived more openly, more honestly, whether she would’ve been able to avoid the trap that comes with leading a double life. What she didn’t foresee is that the price you pay for living such a life is that you cheat yourself and those who love you out of knowing you fully. Yet Vi can’t regret any of this. It’s done. All she can do now is seek forgiveness.
“I don’t know where to begin,” she says, leaning her arms on her legs, looking sincerely at Lily.
“Begin with how you got started in the business,” Lily says firmly.
“I knew a guy who did it.”
“That’s too vague. What’s his name?”
“Andrés Costas.”
“Wait, I know that name,” Dahlia interjects.
Vi nods, “I’m sure you do.”
Lily pauses. “You were at NYU?”
Vi nods. “He was in a dance class I was taking the summer before senior year.”
“And he just said, ‘hey you wanna be my pimp?’” Lily replies sarcastically.
Vi gives her a warning look. “Not like that. I never pimped him out. We started hanging out for a while. You might even say we dated.”
“You had a secret boyfriend?” Dahlia asks.
“Boyfriend is a stretch. We couldn’t be exclusive, but we kind of were. I wasn’t seeing anybody while we were together.”
“How long was that?” Lily grills.
“About six months.” Vi looks up at the ceiling, realizing how bad it all sounds when she’s saying it out loud. “But it wasn’t like we were dating like you and Jack were. We just hung out at my place, or went out occasionally to some local bar. It was easy and nice to have a friend.”
“And have you had any boyfriends since?”
“That’s irrelevant.” Vi grows defensive. “It has no bearing on what’s going on now.”
“I beg to differ,” Lily argues. “You’re supposed to reveal what you’ve been keeping from me.”
“No boyfriends,” Vi says flatly.
“Except Thomas,” Dahlia butts in.
Her friend gives her a warning look.
“What about Thomas?” Lily asks curiously.
“Nothing!” Vi replies, becoming frustrated by the turn in the conversation. “Aren’t we supposed to be discussing other things?”
“Thomas is someone else we only learned about this year.”
“And you’ve known each other a long time,” Dahlia adds. “He’s so in love with you, he doesn’t even bother hiding it when I bring it up.”
“You talk about me to him?” Vi is incredulous.
Dahlia shrugs her shoulder and feigns innocence. “Just briefly. I can tell the way you get all flushed and excited when he comes up that you feel something too.”
Vi shakes her head. “It’s not the same. We’ve known one another since we were young. That’s all. It would never work between us.”
“Why not?”
Vi runs her fingers along the armrest of her chair. “We’ve seen each other at our worst.”
Lily and Dahlia both begin to speak, but Vi holds up her finger. “Wait. I know some say that’s a good thing, but for us, it’s why we’d fail. I’m too jaded, and war broke him. I’m not going to fool myself into thinking our love could save us.”
“Oh my god, you just said it!” Dahlia squeals.
Vi looks away. “It was merely an expression.”
Lily scoffs. “Lying to yourself isn’t going to make the feelings go away.”
“That’s enough about Thomas. Let’s move on,” Vi tells them.

Darra's Review:

There is not one book from Vivian I have not liked! And another great book for the Vi Series. I can't believe the is true, however this book had the best cliffhanger of all her books from the Gilded Flower Series.
There is so much that happens, I can not give enough details. I do have to say.. I love Violet. Not just because she is awesome, but because she is calm and calculated. Her relationships have all collided into one book. First Andre, then Thomas, somewhere Gustavo gets in the mix, to lastly leave me with Samir. Which his story is left for the final book of the Vi Series.
All and all, I am looking forward(to say the least) to read the next book. The Vi Series will consume your mind and I have moments during the day I think of what is to be next. Plus seeing the hot guys on Vivian's FB page makes my day!
Vivian Winslow tops herself each time and has never let me down. Kudos my friend. No pressure on my expectations for your next book!
