Darra's Review:

Every time I read another Crow Brothers Book, I say it was my favorite. And I will say it again. I dare say that this could be my favorite Series from S.L. Scott. You will be stuck in a reading bubble and will not stop. I will say that I read all these books in only a few days. S.L. Scott makes each Crow Brother the most interesting brother. Until I read the second and third book.
I already knew that Rivers was going to be the complicated brother. He had a story that began 5 years ago. It never ended. He has already made it big, but he cannot share it with the one person he cares most for. He goes after what he desired for years and it made my heart melt. Rivers should write “How to Woo women, 101.” Besides what occurred after the death of their mother, he did know wrong when he returned to Austin. Rivers left you thinking “Why are these guys only in books!”
I rate this book a 4.7. Loved it and Rivers is one of a kind. He may be a Crow Brother, but Rivers stands on his own.

EXCERPT #1 Stella Lilith used to have an adventurous side, but I think it’s been a while since she broke a few rules. “Will you climb out first?” There’s my girl. “Yep.” I press down on the sink, hoping it doesn’t fall off the wall. It looks old, so I’m not sure it can hold my weight. But it’s getting louder in the hall, so I climb up, grabbing an exposed pipe above the window, and maneuver my legs through the opening. Good thing we’re on the ground level. Pushing off, I land on my feet in the alley and turn around. “Stella?” She peeks out and by the way her lips are twisted and her eyes are looking at the cement, she’s nervous. “I don’t want to fall.” “I’d never let you. Not to the ground anyhow.” For a second, she looks confused, but her brow relaxes and a small smile appears. “You’ll catch me?” “Every time.” She disappears, and I can hear her climbing onto the sink. Her legs slide out the window until her ass rests on the metal sill. “Ready for me, Rivers?” “All my life.” “For real,” she says, her nerves causing a slight shake to her tone. “You’re going to catch me, right?” “Always.” I take her by the ass, and say, “Put your legs over my shoulders.” “What? No.” “Yes. I’ve got you. Then all I have to do is back up as you slip out.” “I’m not as light as I used to be. Are you sure you can handle me?” I work my way under her so her legs are over my shoulders. “Don’t worry about me, baby. I can handle you all right.” Her thighs squeeze my neck. I like to think it was the name I slipped in there, but it’s probably because she’s anxious to do this. She slips out a little more, and our eyes meet. “You’re sure you’re ready?” “All you have to do is let go. I have you.” Releasing the pipe, she ducks her head to the side while I support her back with my hands, holding her until she clears the glass. Helping her upright, my face is against the jeans that cover her vagina and she’s squeezing my head with her legs so tight I don’t know if I’m going to live. What a sweet fucking way to die. EXCERPT #2 I’m a skilled guitarist. I know how to make her come using all I’ve learned and playing her like an instrument. I’m just not sure if I’m ready to let her have a release. I’m thinking of keeping her on the brink so we can come together. Stella grinds against my hand, seeking relief. I pull out and replace my finger with my cock one big inch at a time. A gasp and then a harsh intake of air draws my attention to her pretty face. “How do I feel, baby?” “So good. So much.” Her eyes open lazily as she takes a slow deep breath and looks into my eyes as I hover over her. Her hands drift from my shoulders to my jaw. “I want all of you, Rivers. Your body, your love, this look in your eyes forever. Kiss me.” Fuck. Yes. Forever. I push in a little more, causing her eyes to close with the motion. My lips touch hers, and she whispers, “I was always here waiting for you. I was always yours . . .” I push in farther, her words driving me to take more. “To love.” Further, the feel of her engulfing me begins to cloud my thoughts. “To fuck.” Fuck. I thrust all the way, as deep as I can go. Her head goes back, her words cries of desire. I kiss the underside of her chin and fuck. Fuck. Love. Fuck. Not gentle. Driving home everything I’ve wanted to tell her since the day we broke up. “I love you.” I fuck her selfishly. I fuck her to satisfy my own needs. I fuck her into an apology. “I’m sorry if I hurt you.” “Don’t say sorry,” she manages between panting breaths. “You feel so good.” I rest on my forearms and take her wrists in hand before pulling them above her head. Our palms press together. Our fingers entwine. Her body is stretched beneath me when I kiss her lips, showing her how much I care about her. “I meant I’m sorry for what I’m about to do to you.”

The Downside of Falling Review

This isn’t a story about a love triangle. There is no triangle involved. This isn’t a story about an accidental pregnancy. Although having a baby with her . . . I would. This isn’t a story about lies and deception, even though at times I’ve lied to myself. No, this is my story. A story about sacrifice. A story about a man who fell in love with the wrong girl. A story I wish I never had to tell. This is a story about the true meaning of the downside of love.

  Darra’s Review:

I must have been overly involved because I was so mad how the last chapter ended in The Upside of Falling. It was a moment “Really Meghan, you left me hanging???” I was Team Colby all the way. He did no wrong and I was rooting for him. I won’t tell you the ending of the first book just in case if you have not read it but I was slightly shocked that the main story line was about Colby’s best friend, Stryder. You know where this is going. Yes, Stryder turns out to be a amazing person and which Rory can’t help but want to be close.
The problem I had was despite Rory telling Colby he must leave, doesn’t justify how she changes her feelings only months later. I thought it was a true love. Colby would have given up his dream to be with her. And once I read this, I overestimated Rory’s feelings for him.
I won’t lie, I really did enjoy finding out who Stryder really was. He was an amazing guy. However I was disappointed with Rory. She wanted a fixer upper and I do not think that is a quality that someone should be looking when meeting a person.
I rate the book a 4.3 out of 5.

Sunny's Review:

I don't really know what to say about this book. It is not one of my favorites but I can see why a lot of people will love it. If you have not read The Upside of Falling, please stop reading this review. It contains spoilers from that book.

I totally fell for Colby in the first book and while the second book is Stryder's story, I just did not love him like I love Colby. I was not a huge Rory fan in the first book so it was really hard for me to like her in this book. Okay, so I think that Rory was a coward. She used her brother as an excuse to not live her life with Colby. I understand that it would have been hard but she could have made everything work if she really wanted to be with him. Stryder was a really good guy and I liked him once I got to see more about him. He had a rough life growing up and then did not get his dream because of his father. I am not a fan of insta-love and I think that is the biggest problem that I have with this story.

Most people are going to read this duet and love the heartbreak and angst running through it. It is a good story and emotions are all over the place. I am giving this book 4.4 stars out of 5. If you need a summer binge, this could be the one for you.

Tucked away at the base of the Rocky Mountains lived a little boy with one singular dream: leave this broken and battered home and become someone. Be somebody’s hero. That boy was me—Colby Brooks. Except I’m not that same little boy anymore. My dreams might still be the same, but my reality isn’t. I’m smarter. Stronger. A man. And I learned a long damn time ago, the only way to achieve my dreams was to avoid distractions—at any cost. Focus. Resolve. Determination. But all it took was one single night. One night and my entire life…changed. One night had me colliding head first with the biggest distraction of my life; Rory Oaks. Smart. Charming. Beautiful. Rory changed everything. Quickly, my one-track mind started to bend. Each kiss faded decade-long dreams. And with one single incident, I fly off course.   Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon CA | Amazon AU

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking. Golden Poppy by Vivian Winslow & Review

Synopsis:

New York socialite, Poppy Baron, has guarded her secrets for decades. With only a few months to live, she vows to heal her relationship with her daughters and to come to terms with the two decisions that have forever haunted her.
This novella is the final installment of the Gilded Flower Saga. Readers will finally get to learn how Poppy Kent became Poppy Baron and how her daughters paid the price for her love affair with Gustavo de Lima.
Poppy first appears in Gilded Lily as the manipulative Baron matriarch. Throughout the Gilded Flowers Trilogies and Wildflowers Series, the fate of her daughters, Lily and Dahlia, and those linked to her world, became intertwined as each of the young women
s love stories unfolded.
Not all relationships have their happily-ever-after, but real love transcends everything
even death.

Darra's Review:

Poppy is one of the most epic characters I have read. And have stalked Vivian to know even more about her. Talk about a 4 dimensional persona. I have read all of Vivian's books and this book was the most anticipated book this year. She makes the female characters into an example of strength and empowerment of taking over ones life. Despite what life throws Poppies way, she got it handled. I won't tell you Poppy was perfect. She made bad decisions however she became the woman she needed to be.
There is so much in this book. Her daughters, her husband(huff) and Gustav. This is a lifetime of memories and an ending that left me choked up. A surprising ending. Yes, it was going to happen. It was no bed of roses like HEA's always end. I was mixed in every emotion but in the end, at feel at peace to end of Poppy's book.
If you haven't read The Gilded Series and the two Poppy books, you must. So, you will understand why my review is a bundle of emotions and praise.
I rate the book a 4.9 out of 5. It is not a story you will forget.
