It takes a fearless woman to love the most scandalous man alive in New York Times Bestselling Author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s breathtaking novel
Even a ghost hunter like Rosie Herpin couldn’t have foreseen the fateful meeting between two mourners that has brought her so intimately close to the notorious and seductive Devlin de Vincent. Everyone in New Orleans knows he’s heir to a dark family curse that both frightens and enthralls. To the locals, Devlin is the devil. To Rosie, he’s a man who’s stoking her wildest fantasies. When a brutal attack on her friend is linked to the de Vincents, he becomes a mystery she may be risking her life to solve.
Devlin knows what he wants from this sexy and adventurous woman. But what does Rosie want from him? It’s a question that becomes more pressing—and more dangerous—when he suspects her of prying into the shadows of his past.
Now, the legends surrounding the de Vincents may not be myths at all. But if she’s to discover the truth, she must follow them straight into the arms of the man she can’t resist—the handsome devil himself

Excerpt:

Rosie needed to get going. She’d promised to help her friend Nikki move today, so it was time to head back to her apartment, get changed, and be a good friend for the day. She leaned— A soft, swift curse jerked her head up. Normally, she didn’t hear a ton of cursing in a cemetery. Usually things were quite quiet. A faint grin tugged at her lips. Cursing and cemeteries typically did not go hand in hand. She scanned the narrow path to her right and didn’t see anything. Leaning back, she looked to her left and found the source. A man knelt on one knee with his back to her as he picked up flowers that had fallen into a puddle left by the recent rainstorm. Even from where she sat, she could see that whatever delicate bouquet he’d carried was ruined. Placing a hand over her eyes, she squinted in the sunlight as she watched the man rise. He was dressed as if he’d come straight from work. Dark trousers paired with a fitted white dress shirt. The sleeves were rolled up to the elbows, revealing tan forearms. It was late September and New Orleans was still circling the seventh level of hot, currently as humid as Satan’s balls in the afternoon, so she figured if she was close to dying in her black dress, he had to be minutes away from stripping off the shirt. Still standing with his back to her, he stared down at the ruined flowers. His shoulders were tense as he turned in the other direction. His pace was brisk as he took the flowers over to an old oak tree festooned with Spanish moss. There was a small trash can there, one of the very few in the entire cemetery. He tossed the flowers and then pivoted, quickly disappearing down one of the numerous lanes. Oh man, that sucked. Feeling for the guy, she sprang into action. Carefully, she pulled half of the stems free and then leaned forward, placing the remaining in the vase in front of her Herpin tomb. She picked up her keys and as she rose, she slid her purple- framed sunglasses on. Hurrying down the worn path with patchy grass, she turned down the lane she’d seen the guy go down. Luck was on her side, because she saw him near the pyramid tomb. He hung a right there, and feeling a wee bit like a stalker, she trailed behind him. Of course, she could yell out to him and just hand him the other half of the peonies, but shouting at a stranger in a cemetery just seemed wrong. Shouting in a cemetery at all felt like something her mother would side- eye her over. And no one side- eyed quite like her mother. The man made another turn and then stepped out of her line of sight. Holding on to the flowers, she walked passed a tomb with a large cross and then her steps slowed. She found him. He was standing before a massive mausoleum, one guarded by two beautifully erected weeping angels, and he was just standing there, as still as those angels, his arms stiff at his sides and his hands closed. She took a step for- ward as her gaze drifted to the name on the mausoleum. de Vincent. Her eyes widened and she blurted out, “Holy baby llama.” The man twisted at the waist, and Rosie was suddenly standing within mere feet of the Devil. . That was what the gossip magazines called him. That was what most of her family called him. Rosie liked to refer to him as in her wildest dreams.

Moonlight Sins (de Vincent series, book 1)

Darra's Review for Moonlight Scandals(Book 1):

Dark with alot of distrust and intrigue and hot scenes. That is a little bit to describe this book. Now the DeVincent family line was haunted and cold. However Lucian(aka Lucifer) had a major streak of being a freak. And the bed. All the time. And didn't have a care in the world unless it was family. Not including the beginning. Crazy BTW.
Julia is trying to move on to other endeavors and finds herself in another world. Dumb rich and a family that is well known for that. Among other things as well. Despite Julia being naive in life, she is a likeable characters. You will root for her. As for Lucian and Julia. What a situation that evolves into. Not just between the two. It is all the other unveiling. A lot to take in.
Any who, the book is worth your time. Alot went into that one book. And the characters are interesting. I rate it a 4.5.

Darra's Review for Moonlight Seductions:
Is it taboo? One of the hang ups is age. Gabe is the nice brother of the three. The guy you root for. However if you read the DeVincent #1, there seems to be so much left unsaid. Good this book came out, right?
And he does have a past he can't leave behind. For more things than one. Before Emma, Nikki was in his life. Just not the same. She only came to help her mother at the DeVincent property. What a bunch of snobs those rich people are. Except Gabe and Lucian. BTW-Sabrina? A psycho piece of work. That is a short story by itself.
Nikki is not interested in anything but doing this job and staying away from Gabe. I am sure you read the synopsis.
That's a sticky situation but what happens? You can't walk away from your heart. And lust parts. Its a package deal.

Anyways, similar to the first book, there is alot that happens that will make this review a college 20 page typed font 11 story. I rate this book a 4.4

My Review for Torn (A Wicked Trilogy) by Jennifer Armentrout

Synopsis:

Torn between duty and survival, nothing can be the same.

Everything Ivy Morgan thought she knew has been turned on its head. After being betrayed and then nearly killed by the Prince of the Fae, she’s left bruised and devastated—and with an earth-shattering secret that she must keep at all costs. And if the Order finds out her secret, they’ll kill her.

Then there’s Ren Owens, the sexy, tattooed Elite member of the Order who has been sharing Ivy’s bed and claiming her heart. Their chemistry is smoking hot, but Ivy knows that Ren has always valued his duty to the Order above all else—he could never touch her if he knew the truth. That is, if he let her live at all. Yet how can she live with herself if she lies to him?

But as the Fae Prince begins to close in, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld, Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn’t figure out who she can trust—and fast—it’s not only her heart that will be torn apart, but civilization itself.

Darra's Review:

I have been a fan of Jennifer's book for years. I like her YA/New Adult parnomal/Fantasy stories. I did not read Wicked until just a couple of weeks ago. Did love it like all the rest of her books. Why did I take a break from Jennifer?! Her books have smooth transitions from one scene to the next and her guys are always swoon worthy. Very dynamic group of characters for all her books.
So started reading Torn this past weekend. The book was great. There were so many unanswered questions that were left off from Wicked. Ivy still a badas@ with a death wish. I liked Ren from the first book. There was a fall out and you don't have him in every scene in this book. However I still love him.
And there is Tink. He is not Ren, but God I love him. He is absolutely ridiculous and adorable at the same time. If you liked him in Wicked, you L-O-V-E him in Torn. BTW-Dixon. (Shaking my head in awesomeness).
A lot happens in this book and can't for move of Ivy, Ren and Tink. Brave will be an all out war and am absolutely looking forward to it.

I rate the book a 4.5 (Waiting till 2017 impatiently!)

Am I a book Snob? Our Breakdown of 2014

When someone that does not read on a daily basis will come to ask you, “What kind of books do you read?”
What do you say? I read romance novels? Or a little of everything? Personally I think those people pigeonhole all books that are not Non Fiction, as romance fluff.
I cannot disagree more. A book always must have a solid story. Yes, it may have a little bit of love. However I think that many nonreaders miss that point. If you are a person that can only read Biographies and John Grisham, you are missing some of the top Best Selling Books of the year.
Check out my list of reads of 2014.

About OPPOSITION:

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came. She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all. Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal. They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind. War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

EXCERPT:

Katy

I still stared at Daemon, completely aware that everyone else except him was watching me. Closely. But why wouldn’t he look at me? A razor-sharp panic clawed at my insides. No. Thiscouldn’t be happening. No way.My body was moving before I even knew what I was doing. From the corner of my eye, I saw Dee shake her head and one of the Luxen males step forward, but I was propelled by an inherent need to prove that my worst fears were not coming true. After all, he’d healed me, but then I thought of what Dee had said, of how Dee had behaved with me. What if Daemon was like her? Turned into something so foreign and cold? He would’ve healed me just to make sure he was okay. I still didn’t stop.
Please, I thought over and over again. Please. Please. Please. On shaky legs, I crossed the long room, and even thoughDaemon hadn’t seemed to even acknowledge my existence, I walked right up to him, my hands trembling as I placed them on his chest. “Daemon?” I whispered, voice thick. His head whipped around, and he was suddenly staring down at me. Our gazes collided once more, and for a second I saw something so raw, so painful in those beautiful eyes. And then his large hands wrapped around my upper arms. The contact seared through the shirt I wore, branding my skin, and I thought—I expected—that he would pull me against him, that he would embrace me, and even though nothing would be all right, it would be better. Daemon’s hands spasmed around my arms, and I sucked in an unsteady breath. His eyes flashed an intense green as he physically lifted me away from him, setting me back down a good foot back. I stared at him, something deep in my chest cracking. “Daemon?” He said nothing as he let go, one finger at a time, it seemed, and his hands slid off my arms. He stepped back, returning his attention to the man behind the desk. “So . . . awkward,” murmured the redhead, smirking. I was rooted to the spot in which I stood, the sting of rejection burning through my skin, shredding my insides like I was nothing more than papier-mâché. “I think someone was expecting more of a reunion,” the Luxen male behind the desk said, his voice ringing with amusement. “What do you think, Daemon?” One shoulder rose in a negligent shrug. “I don’t think anything.” My mouth opened, but there were no words. His voice, his tone, wasn’t like his sister’s, but like it had been when we first met. He used to speak to me with barely leashed annoyance, where a thin veil of tolerance dripped from every word. The rift in my chest deepened.
For the hundredth time since the Luxen arrived, SergeantDasher’s warning came back to me. What side would Daemon and his family stand on? A shudder worked its way down my spine. I wrapped my arms around myself, unable to truly process what had just happened. “And you?” the man asked. When no one answered, he tried again. “Katy?” I was forced to look at him, and I wanted to shrink back from his stare. “What?” I was beyond caring that my voice broke on that one word. The man smiled as he walked around the desk. My gaze flickered over to Daemon as he shifted, drawing the attention of the beautiful redhead. “Were you expecting a more personal greeting?” he asked. “Perhaps something more intimate?” I had no idea how to answer. I felt like I’d fallen into the rabbit hole, and warnings were firing off left and right. Something primal inside me recognized that I was surrounded by predators.

Don't miss the books that started it all...
