Sunny's Review of Becca Redford & the Big Bad Wolfhound

Becca Redford is your typical surly annoying teenager in the beginning of this book. Her parents are separating and will get divorced and she is angry that her life is being disrupted. She is actually really annoying to me. I don't like the whole apathetic teen that has no interest in anything. It took me a little bit to warm up to Becca but once I did she was okay. She ended up caring about her dog, Morri and learning about her heritage, slaying werewolves. Becca meets Ben and is instantly attracted to him. He is to her as well but he can't be around her since he is a werewolf. Ben is pretty great and even though he knows he should not be near Becca he continues to run into her. Becca and Ben find out that there are rogue werewolves running around the woods and killing innocent people. They try to figure out what is happening as Ben tries to help her understand more werewolf lore.

I don't want to give you anymore details but you should really want to read this book. I ended up really loving this book. I am giving this book 4.5 stars out of 5. I think you will get sucked into this book as quickly as I did.

The Devil You Know (Speak of the Devil Bk 3) by Shawna Romkey!!!

The Devil You Know (Speak of the Devil Book 3) By Shawna Romkey!!!

Book 3 in the Speak of the Devil series

Holy Hell!

After battling her way back from Hell only to discover Luc didn't make it out, Lily must rally the angels to descend back into the Devil's domain. Now she has thirty days to rescue her angelic warrior boyfriend and break the curse to free God before Lucifer and his demon army destroy all of humanity on Earth. Forget passing the eleventh grade. Lily must face the ultimate final exam to give the Devil his due and save the world before the reapers catch up and deliver the death she cheated from them a year ago.

Darra's Review:

We have been on the look out for this book to come out. Absolutely loved the first two books. Shawna has such a twist on how to represent angels vs the Devil. This is why her books speak to us and made us crave for more.
The last book left us screaming at Shawna for ending it there. Great cliffhanger. So I can't imagine any reader feeling like the story could end at her second book.
Onto the characters. I thought Lily was brave throughout the book. Her loyalty for Luc goes on forever. When you feel like she  could not do more, she finds a way to make it back to him. I loved Luc from the beginning. So I think he could do no wrong. With a few scenes, cringe is not a strong enough word to explain how I felt. At one point, I was silently crying at my desk at lunch(Don't judge me!).
Shawna writes to make you personal feel the characters anguish, happiness and loyalty. I should not say more. However there was a scene with the Devil that threw me for a loop. Ugh, you want to hate him! And the end made my heart soar. That's it! No more from me!

Sunny has it dead on. I give it a 4.8. Loved all three and definitely should be on your reading list.

Sunny's Review:

OMG! I can't tell you how excited I was to get this book. Honestly, I might have emailed Shawna a few times and asked when this book was going to be ready. I love this series. If you remember from my review of The Devil Made Me Do It, I was really torn because I totally loved Lucifer and that conflicted my little Catholic heart. So this book picks up right where book 2 left off. There was quite a bit of okay what do we need to do and let's go do it in this book. It went very quickly for me. There were some parts where my chest tightened up and I was like "oh yeah, that is why the devil is bad" moments but I still have a little bit of a soft spot for him.

Lily was great in this book. She was not whiny and like oh poor pitiful me. She has to make some tough decisions and I like that she made them and stood up to people.  Luc was Luc. I wanted to shake him and yell at him but still amazing. I mean if my guardian angel was like him, I might have to do some dumb things so he was always around. (Dear Guardian Angel, I am kidding. I am not going to purposely do dumb things to keep you busy. --Sunny)

I think this book does a great job of wrapping up the series and honestly I love Shawna's writing. I am going to make some time to read her other book, Crow Moon. I am pretty sure that I am also going to be stalking her for more books. She might end up hating that she is super nice and answers all my emails. :)

You have to read this series in order and I totally recommend it. This book is 4.6 stars out of 5 and the series as a whole is definitely 4.8 stars. Go get them and enjoy!!!

A Huge Thank You to all my Favorite Authors. And reasons why you should love them!

For the last couple of years we have been given the opportunity to read and review books before they come out by fantastic authors. Some Indie, some already established and well known authors.

This is a Thanks to the authors for the chance to do one of the things we love most. READ! You have made us laugh, cry, emotional dysfunctional, happy and shocked. Movies don’t hold those feelings into just single words. An avid reader like us dwell on those books that truly affect you.

We understand, in each book the writer is putting a piece of themselves in the story. Open for anyone to put their judgement out for the world to see. You need to have balls of steel to write a book. A brain that wonders into other realms of imagination. And a heart that has felt all the emotions that the reader will feel by the time the last page comes to a close.

Brains, Hearts and Balls. That pretty much sums up a great author. It is a truth that a person can live hundreds of lives by just reading books. People like me stutter through our words when writing. So this is the reason why we are giving a shout out to those authors that can.

There are numerous authors we have truly loved this year. Some of the books are from last year but most from this year. Here are a few that deserve the love from all readers. Make it known which author moves you!

Meghan Quinn

The Virgin Romance Novelist made us laugh at the most awkward moments. Like on a plane, by a stranger, who was trying to read over my shoulder. About a smoking baby powder missing briar patch. Read and you will understand.

T.L. Smith
Antagonize Me. Can’t even explain what made this book so great. It is a reread. In fact, I will be doing just that this month. Just plain fun and enjoyable. This author can write all different stories. Don’t expect the same thing twice.

JL Massey
The Red Door. I read The Black Door this year. Very Dark. I will never forget that book. However it was The Red Door that sucked me in. This is a major warning to all people who do not like BDSM. This goes beyond what you expect. Pushes passed any limit.

I could write a 30 page essay of authors we have loved this year, but I am trying to limit my list.
Here are more honorable mentions. These authors are just as good as the above. However I would gab nonstop why I like the books and love the authors. Check out their links.

Sunny's Review:

If you saw my review of Speak of the Devil you know that I was really excited to get my hands on The Devil Made Me Do It. Shawna did not disappoint me. I am in a book hangover and I can't wait to find out what happens in The Devil You Know.

There are going to be some spoilers. I hate doing that but to get my feelings across I think that you need to know that you will meet Lucifer in this. I kind of loved him. Don't get me wrong. I am definitely on Team Halo and not Team Awesome and Lucifer is totally, 100% certifiably insane! Again, I kind of loved him. He had some amazing liners and so much more but I don't want to tell you because I want you to enjoy them for yourself.

I can honestly say that I feel like I need to go to Confession so that I am in good with God and his Angels. Don't want to end up in Purgatory or Hell. Luc is pretty good in this book and just gets better. I was a little bit annoyed with him at the end but I get it. He was awesome right before I got mad at him. I like Lily a lot more in this one. She is not whiny and basically gets a backbone. I love it.

There is so much more that I want to say but I don't want to give up too much. I am giving this book 4.8 stars out of 5. Anytime I can laugh and gasp, be happy and sad while getting mad at a book means that the author did an AWESOME job. Go get these and seriously enjoy.

Darra's Review:

Sunny pretty much summed it up well.

Loved Luc and their relationship shifted to so much more than just acquaintances. You want them to get together but there is so much that keeps them apart. Lily was slow at times, however she finally understood what a terrible position she ended up in.
Lucifer is charismatic? Shockingly, yes. And funny as well. I am supposed to hate him! Your emotions are toyed with and that just made me want to continue to read the book more.

Looking forward to the next book. Left us with a great cliffhanger in the end! Enjoy the read. The series is worth your time.
