It seems as though the past week has drug along awaiting this day. I can't wait to share Hazel's story with all of you. Originally I said that this would be one book. But, it can't be. This story has grown, the characters have gotten more complex, and had I made it one book, I would've had to cut out a lot of the story and not give my characters the ending they deserved. Phil

"Strip."

She stands there for a moment staring at the ground, her shaky hands twisting together.

"Do not make me do it for you, Hazel."

Slowly she unbuttons and unzips her pants. I love that sound. She pushes them down and steps out on unsteady legs. Her hands go the hem of her shirt and grip it so tightly her fingers start turning white. Taking a shuddering breath, she pulls it over her head and drops it to the floor. Her bra and panties are awfully nice for going to work in. She must have worn them for him. Anger scorches my veins at how little she thought of me on our date. She didn't wear anything like this for me. I admire her body in her pretty underthings wishing I had seen the bruises that formed by my hand. As I get to her stomach, my eyes grow wide and a smile spreads over my face. Tiny pink streaks trail down where my fingers once raked her skin. If I thought my dick wouldn't work for a while after she nailed it, I was wrong.

"Take those off too. He's not here to see them."

Against her wishes, I make her shower. She tries to close the curtain, but I pull it open. Shivering beneath the water, she washes her body and tries to hide as much of herself as she can. The suds on her slick flesh make me ache to pinch each and every one until they pop. An image of blood oozing out of every bubble as it bursts has my heart pounding in anticipation of what's to come. Unable to wait any longer, I shut the water off and yank her from the tub. She slips out and lands against me, the water on her body soaking into my clothes.

Without a second thought, I pull her into her bedroom and shove her onto the bed. Looking around, I spot some scarves on top of her dresser and grab them. I attempt to grab her wrists, but she fights me and scoots away on the bed. The word no slips from her lips. My vision blurs as I grow more furious. I hate the word no. I despise being told no. Before I know what's happening, my emotions get the better of me and my fist strikes her face. There's an audible pop and blood gushes from her nose. It makes me think of the bleeding bubbles.

Her hand covers her face as she chokes on her sobs and the blood. It seeps through her fingers dripping on her chest in slow motion. Each drop exploding as it lands on her skin. My darkness, her life. The perfect mix of truth in my world.

Darra's Review:

I will start this off by saying I absolutely loved Aria. She may be harsh and insensitive but she takes no crap. Her new job is really awful, meaning cruel. However she was made for it. Handles it like a pro. A natural. Which is really kind of horrific considering she is a trafficker.
You get a  glimpse of her in Degrade and you will find her interesting. I am so glad she got her own book. Too unique to not have her own story told. There are several other characters in the book, however Aria stands out.
She works for Zeke(Degrade) for a while. Her story weaves into the previous book. Which makes the transition seamless.
I loved the ending. Not the happily ever after. Which is a breath of fresh air. She is a work in progress. Aria is living her life and not by anyone else rules. I can't wait to hear more about her in the next book!
Also, check out all of T.L. Smith's books. Each one is exceptional and has fascinating characters. Superb writing and one of a kind stories!

I rate the book a 4.6. A must read.

I received this book along with Deliverance for Amelia to read and review. In book one, the author states that you have to know ahead of time this is not for the weak. You may need to take a breather to get thru the books. I have read very dark books before.

The Killer series has exceeded my expectations. If you are interested in a shock and awwww, you get it. In a most disturbing way. There are few books that stick with you. As a reader, I do not think I will ever forget either books.

How to even start with Gabriel? I can't imagine ever meeting such a person. He has been raised by a father with the darkest thoughts. It would only make sense the possible chance he would turn out to the same was highly likely. Except he is not. Is there a way for someone to have redeeming qualities and are the spawn of Satan? You will find out in the book.

 

I am glad he is a bit different from his father. Not too far off. I did take a couple of days because I read both books back to back. The second book is not as hard to read. Do not take this review as if I think this book is fluff. Bonny's writing is very detailed and also graphic. You have to read each page or you will miss details that are needed to make this book complete.

I rate this book a 4.4.

Make sure you read Deliverance to Amelia (Book 1) before reading Gabriel!

Why Books Made Me Become a Blogger

We usually do not post much besides our book reviews and releases. However I felt it is time you a idea of how we work/love/live as bloggers. Here is where we can tell you what makes a book memorable.

First I would like to say a huge Thank You to all the authors that want us to review your books. We truly do appreciate allowing us to take part in something that you poured your heart and soul into. I can't imagine what stress you feel having everyone critique each book you write. We both have full time jobs and wish we had more time to post each book we get can ahold off. If I had someone tell me each day what I am doing my job wrong, there would many trips to jail for causing bodily harm to others.

Sometimes when we read books, if it is a storyline very similar to a book I have read before, I may not remember it. This may not be a problem for a normal reader, but it does become an issue for people like us that read 2-3 books a week. It is so hard to imagine a plot that is distinctive including unique characters. Unfortunately it is necessary. I will not read the rest of the series or other books by an author if I don't get more than the "usual".

One way for a reader to remember a book is also the title and the cover. It is unfortunate that we base a book by its cover. However if the cover has something different to it, the book may be more noticed. Intrigued is the best way to describe it. It may have  the ugliest cover, but it is different.

BOOK COVERS:
My personal issue as of lately is book covers that have been used before or two half naked people in an awkward position with that fake look that is suppose to say "I'm hot. You want me". If an author promotes their book with erotic picture/poses with quotes, love it. It is just the automatic feeling that a book is "eh. Been there, read that". Leave the reader with something to the imagination. That characters is who I want to believe he or she looks like. Even having a book cover with a silhouette of models is better. This your form of ART!

TITLES:
If an author takes offense to this, don't. My feelings are not the same as all other readers. I have a terrible memory to what title or cover goes with which synopsis. As for the title of the book. If it ends with a "Us" or "Me", forget it. No recollection at all. Too many books with such similar titles.

SYNOPSIS:
About the synopsis of a book. Find another way to explain a characters "demons from their past". The characters dreadful early years. A rough start. A turbulent background. I do not know of anyone that would explain their childhood or relationships as "Demons".

CHARACTERS:
The Closer the characters are to a real person, the more I will enjoy the book. I need a strong person. If a character is in their 20's-later years, I can't understand how a person will stop living life because their boyfriend or girlfriend broke up with you. Cry yes, sulk for a week, yes. Dysfunctional and desperate, no bueno. Make the character the best person you know in life.

REVIEWS;
There are several other reasons why I like or dislike a book. Why I can tell you about a great book years after it is read. Reviews are a big part of how many people want to read it. To hit that buy button on Amazon or B&N or any other buy links. I read those reviews. From worst to best.
Most of the times I feel like my reviews just don't explain how much I like or dislike the book. It would be a novel(like this post). My personal feelings are: If I can help the author to get another reader to buy the book, I did my job.

We play a small role in an authors career. However if you truly make a novel that I cannot help but gab to everyone about, has made a emotional hit to my heart and a new memory in the book memory in my head, that is a trifecta of what makes a book the top of my life list.

“Oh God, yes!”
I look down at the woman between my thighs and grimace. I just wanted a fuck. A release. Not her voice splitting my skull. She thinks it’s sexy. It’s not. While I bang into her over and over again I should be building up to the few seconds of pure bliss I need right now. Not thinking about how I should have gagged her.
Leaning forward over her, I slip my hand around her throat, watching as her slender neck disappears under my palm, positioning my thumb and forefinger on each side of her jaw, holding her in place. She automatically tilts her head back slightly and opens her mouth, but this time without sound. This is turning her on, which works for me because I wasn’t about to stop. I can feel her pulse through my hand and so squeeze my fingers, tightening on each thrust in. Her eyes widen and flick to the corner of my mouth then back to my eyes. I know what she sees. It’s what they all see…the only thing I allow.
Emptiness, darkness and cruelty.
They need to know. It’s who I am.
It’s who I’ll always be.
I finish up. Pulling myself out of her and out of the bed, her eyes snap open and she stares at me.
“What are you doing?” she whines.
I look over at her while pulling my jeans on. “Going home.”
“Well, you could stay?” she asks, with a smile. “We could do that again.” Her smile turns into a smirk
“No thanks,” I reply. Mentally going over the list of things I had on me and making sure I’ve got them all before leaving.
You never come back.
Never.
Rule One—If you leave your phone, wallet, house keys, etcetera, you get new ones. New phone, new wallet—Fuck! You get a new house if you have to. But you never come back. Period.
She frowns at me, I can see her brain working. “Okay, do you want to meet up later this week?” She’s grasping at straws and is sounding desperate.
“Not gonna happen. This was tonight. Just tonight. I told you when we were at the bar. This was a one-time deal. I fuck you. I leave.” My mouth twitches. “I’ve fucked you. Now I’m leaving.”
She scowls as my eyes land on my jacket.
“You complete wanker!” she shouts.
“Not sure what you expected?” I reply grabbing my jacket and heading to the bedroom door.
“Well thanks for fucking me!” she clips angrily as I walk away.
I salute her. “Pleasure babe.” Then walk out of her bedroom and her life, and I go back to feeling the cold. In more ways than one.
