Molly stared at herself in the mirror. She looked like a completely different person. She’d cut her hair into a bob, just above her shoulders and added some highlights. The bags under her eyes that were starting to look like they might be permanent had slowly started to disappear and her complexion looked healthier. She hadn’t had a drink of alcohol since Jane had practically kicked her ass and she’d replaced cigarettes and drugs with exercise, something Molly had always balked at when Jane suggested it before, but she found running in the morning made her feel more invigorated throughout the day.

She talked to Jim and Marcia, Luke’s parents, and told them about the changes she’d made in her life and the steps she was taking to improve her life. They all decided that splitting time with Winnie during the week, until Molly got her feet fully back on the ground, was the best plan.

Molly got a job with her old school. The new principal, who was a teacher when Molly worked there before, always got along with Molly and when Molly approached her about finding a job, she was instantly offered a position that had just opened up, teaching fifth graders. The timing was perfect and Molly thought Luke must be looking out for her. She used to teach third graders, so she had to brush up on her fifth grade curriculum, but she had a while until the school year started back up in September.

She pretty much had everything back in her life, except for a man.

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn’t take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch, besides “The Notebook” I made time to read the heartbreaking novel.

It wasn’t until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books, I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven’t turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

I am currently residing in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.

The first sentence of the synopsis caught my attention. Not in a weird, creepy, I want seek out dead bodies kind of way. But a book that is unique and as great as the others James Hayman has in the series.

The story takes place in Detective McCabe's territory. Which for a small town, is very rare and disturbing. Each detail of the what transpires is pertinent to solving what happened to the victim. This is the second book I have read part of this series. Both books were nail-biting, intense and intriguing.

The characters are great. Believable and not overbearing as many I have read before.

I know little to nothing about detective work. So it is great to read a book that makes it easy for the new readers to comprehend the Crime/Mystery genre.

 

The McCabe and Savage Series has captured my attention from page one. I would absolutely recommend this to all. It so much more than a Murder/Mystery book. Full package.

 

I would rate the book a 4.5. Definitely a memorable story. Which is great. I have terrible memory!

Sunny's Review:

I am really glad that I read this book. I loved the characters from the very beginning. I am not going to lie. So much of what Kaitlyn thought is stuff that goes through my head. I mean she is ridiculous and hilarious. I mean she is even allergic to tomatoes like I am (and it would be my like to finally get the date and have to go to the hospital). I really like Cole. He was super sweet and you have to love that he cares so much about family. I really like that the characters all had a little bit of background. Cole and Kaitlyn were in class together for awhile before they started to date. There were a lot of really funny parts but there were some serious issues.

 

I am giving this book 4.4 stars out of 5. I think you will enjoy it.

Sunny's Review:

I was really excited to read this book. Sometimes I get bored when I constantly read the same genre (which I have been doing lately). I really like mystery and suspense so this book was right up my ally. It did take me a little bit to get into the book. I was a little bit bored while getting to know all of the characters. I personally didn't like the characters that much. I felt like they were very whiny and annoying...so basically very real. I feel like I could meet any of the characters on the street. I did like the story as far as trying to figure out what really happened. Honestly, get through the character introduction and then I think you will enjoy this book.

I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars. Go get it and let me know what you think!

I grew up in rural Derbyshire, but my adult life has been spent mostly in London, with long intervals in Norfolk and Deal, all inspiring places. I was educated mostly in convent schools; then studied English and went on to qualify as a solicitor, working for what is now the Crown Prosecution Service, thus learning a bit about murder at second hand. Years later, writing became the real vocation, although the law and its ramifications still haunt me and inform many of my novels.

I’m a novelist, short story writer for magazines and radio, sometime Radio 4 contributor, (Front Row, Quote Unquote, Night Waves,) and presenter of Tales from the Stave. When I’m not working (which is as often as possible), I can be found in the nearest junk/charity shop or auction, looking for the kind of paintings which enhance my life. I still stared at Daemon, completely aware that everyone else except him was watching me. Closely. But why wouldn’t he look at me? A razor-sharp panic clawed at my insides. No. Thiscouldn’t be happening. No way.
My body was moving before I even knew what I was doing. From the corner of my eye, I saw Dee shake her head and one of the Luxen males step forward, but I was propelled by an inherent need to prove that my worst fears were not coming true.
