 Darra's Review:

 Read this book in one day and Loved it! Despite all Musicians are known for being manwho$es, I love them. Since is written by S.L. Jennings, I couldn’t pass it up. Each character is unique. From Hate, to love, to despair, to understanding. Rhythm and Blue pulled every string in my heart.

Rox begins the story with her blinding hatred for Riot. Although she grew up with him, they went their separate ways. A decade later, she is pushed to meet with him. When she finally see’s him, you could tell Blu Riot was enamored with her. Her plan was to get this job completed quickly to continue with her life that did not include him. That was derailed almost immediately.

Riot, how do I begin? He is amazing and complex. The life of a well know musician is hard and cliché. You find out hat his plans are and it is all about Rox. However, his plans do not go his way. I loved him and loathed him at times. As if he was real. He played with my emotions and had a few moments of tearing up.

I was a big ball of stress and was waiting for the HEA. And freaking a little at the end because Poppy would never go away. Talking about a character I wanted to physically slap her in face! Ugh. Despite that skinny, horrible character, the story ended the way it was meant to.

BTW-I need more of Kaz. He is wonderful and he needs his own book. Too good of a guy to leave out. S.L.-I am talking to you. Next on your writing list.

I rate the book a 4.7 out of 5. It has been at least a year that I read from beginning to end in one day. This book deserved that time.

Darra's Review:

After the first book, I have been impatiently waiting to read this book. I love S.L. Jennings books. They are unique and never let me down. S.L. Jennings has amazing stories every time. She has never let me down.
That last book had a ridiculous cliffhanger that left me yelling at Jennings. I kept swiping for one more page. Didn't work. So the beginning of the book started right where Born Sinner left off. Thank baby Jesus!
There are so many things that happen in this book, it is not stop action. So many things that happen in one book but luckily not overwhelming. She's in Hell. Surprised by what it looks like. Not surprised how disturbing Lucifer is.
Eden drove me crazy a little. Her actions are understandable, but I always wanted her with Legion. However it is not all that simple. Mostly because of Adriel. Terrible catch 22.
I can't continue to go more into details since my review would become a 10 pages long. No one would read this if so!
I will tell you that this book's cliffhanger is by far much worse. All I have to say is NIKO! The next book is going to be crazy and am so excited to read more.

I rate the book a 4.7 out of 5. Read bot books, you are truly missing out!

Darra's Review:

I never want to say this in a review, but really it is a OMFG book. The Dark Light Series is in my top 10 favorite series. I believe that this will be another one I will be adding to the list. Truly, Born Sinner was unbelievable. Beautifully written with raw characters and a amazing story that will draw you in from page one. This book is the reason why I love S.L. Jennings writing.
Lets start with Eden. What a $hit card that was given to her before she was out of the womb. She is living the best she can in a ugly world that cares less about her. Fear is not her main problem. It is evil that penetrates her daily life. She is trying to control herself the best she can. However it is extremely hard when it is absorbed in her nightmares every night.
L starts out as a character I loathed. How can a person be so cruel? There is a reason why he had a rough start in the book. The longer you read this book, the more you understand him and want so bad for him to restore himself. Just like Eden, he must control the evil in the world. Eden is his main priority and will stop at nothing to redeem himself as well as bringing Eden with him.
There are many characters I have not mentioned in this review since it is now already lengthy. However they play very important roles that were needed to make this book complete. I have strong feelings(both hate and love) for all of them.
As Sunny explains, part of this book must be read alone without people peeking over your shoulder. Just like the Dark Series, some scenes will leave you breathless. Just a big WOW is all I can say.

I finished this book and pure hatred spewing out of my mouth. Not because I was unsatisfied with the book. It was because S.L. Jennings left me the biggest cliff hanger! How could she toy with my emotions?! I was at lunch and started eating my emotions. Still brewing on my emotions. I will be foaming at the mouth waiting for the next book(not really, I don't have rabies). Words are not strong enough to explain how much I need to read the next book.

I rate the book a 4.9 out of 5. Please don't make me wait till next year. I need my fix of L & Eden!

This book...I don't even really know where to start. It was awesome. I love it. I guess we will start with Eden. She has had a horrible life. Her mother hated her and she ended up in foster care. She was was beyond poor most of her life. She basically works nights and goes home to have nightmares all day. She has a work friend, Lily and they hit it off pretty well. Some stuff happens and she meets L.
I like Eden. She is freaking insane and I am totally okay with most of that. All things considered, she holds up pretty well.
L is conflicted for me. I want to love him. There are so many things that I want to love about him but there are a couple of things I am not sure I can get over. L is the leader of the Se7en Sinners and is pretty dominant. When he speaks, his word is basically law. The other six in the group are pretty awesome. I am not going to give too many details but I liked seeing the dynamic of the group and their interactions.
This book is not for the faint of heart. The book is graphic and insane. I read it in 2 days and the only reason it took that long was because I actually had work while at work. If I was not busy I would have hidden my phone on my desk and read. Now saying this, be careful when reading in public. I did read while on the treadmill and kept hoping the people on either side didn't pay attention to me. Or hopefully they liked the dark twisted too.
I am giving this book 4.8 out of 5 stars. I can't wait for the next book!!! Go get this and get to reading!!!

When I saw that S.L. Jennings was about to release a new book, I had to get on board. Her other series blew my mind and was extremely excited to read her latest.
The book is light hearted with two best friends, August(Rhys) and Fiona(Fi), living life after college. He is has become a great writer. She has always been by his side. No matter who he is seeing.
Both of them have great conversations and is what pulled me into reading more. However the older you get, feelings change. Even without knowing. People and life move on. This is the story of two people that are going thru this transition.
S.L. Jennings writes characters that you love to hate and hate to love. This is all about August. You will want to throat punch him and kiss him at the same time.
I believe most readers will be conflicted with how they feel about the characters. Many ups and downs.
BTW-one part of the book will have you rolling on the floor laughing. A tiny tear etched on the side of my eye from silently laughing so hard.
Overall, I liked the book. I don't think he is a Dorian. However Rhys seem to be a person you may know in real life that you could fall for. Fi is the girl you will always root for.
 
I rate Ink & Lies a 4.5. Purely enjoyable.

I was really excited about this book. The idea sounded like a lot of fun and I am glad that I read it. There are several parts that are so funny and some that are like OMG, what would I do if this was happening to me.
 
August and Fiona are interesting characters. They would people that you know and are friends with. I personally didn't like Fi. I thought she was a little too much of the girl that wants to be in a relationship so back and totally dismisses who she is and her friends for a guy. I don't like those people. August or Rhys (Fi's nickname for him) is the typical best friend that doesn't realize what he has until it is too late. I wanted to like them but I just couldn't. I lean a little bit more towards the alpha than what Rhys was.
 
I have always said that if I don't love a book or even really like it, I will tell you why I think that others will like it. I understand that everyone has different tastes in books and this one is not my favorite. Is it well written? Yes. Would I recommend it to others? Yes. Main reason, I know that there are so many people that will identify with both characters. I know that even when I didn't love the book, I read it quickly, I laughed and I did enjoy it.
 
I am giving this book 4.2 stars. It is a good book and I think a lot of people will enjoy it. Check out the excerpt and then go get this!

“Yeah, but…” Her eyes grow wide and glossy as she tries to sift through all the reasons why that theory shouldn’t apply to her. In the end, she relies on her heart. “You said I wasn’t like those other women…that those other women weren’t me.”

I should tell her she’s right. I should put her out of her misery and reassure her that the last ten years were as real and meaningful to me as they were for her. That even though I may sling gift-wrapped bullshit for the general public, only she knows the true, honest parts of my heart. But with my tongue possessed by the taste of her rejection, I play the petty card, and do just the opposite.

“I guess I was wrong, especially considering yesterday’s events. Maybe you’re no different from them. And maybe you were right about me…that I do sabotage with sex to keep people at arm’s length. Because in the end, that’s all I want anyway, right?”

“You don’t mean that.”

I nod. “Yeah. I do.”
 
“So what are you saying?” The hurt is so thick in her throat that I can barely hear the words.

I suck in a breath, and scrub a hand over my forehead. “You were right about me. About us. We shouldn’t have done…what we did. And we can’t move on and pretend that it didn’t change us. What’s done is done.”

“I agree,” she nods, with a tinge of hope in her voice.

“So, maybe we should just see this for what it is—the end. You’re starting your life with Joshua and moving away, and I’m going on with mine.”

“Wait, August. No, that’s not—”

“You didn’t actually think we’d be able to keep this up, did you? What, you thought we’d turn out to be the modern day Cathy and Heathcliff? I’m not some swoony, literary hero, Fi. I’m not here to rescue you from your shitty love life that stems from your shitty childhood.”

“I never said you were—”

I’m rambling, spewing verbal diarrhea all over her blue cashmere, but I can’t stop. I can’t shut off the bile that has been choking me since this morning when she disclosed her impending nuptials. “You have Joshua. He’s the one you chose. He’s the one you want. You made that perfectly clear. So what the fuck do you need with me?”

“I thought we were friends, August. I thought you and me were—”

“Well, I guess you were wrong. Friends don’t fuck each other and then five minutes later get engaged. And why would you want to be friends with some empty, misogynistic prick like me anyway?”

“I-I didn’t mean,” her voice cracks, and the first tear escapes. She quickly dashes it away, refusing to let me play witness to her weakness. But I’ve already seen it. I share that very same weakness that has her bottom lip trembling. I’m just too much of a coward to show it.

“Look, I’m sorry. I think we just need a break.”

“A break. Yes,” she nods, dashing away tears. “You’re right. We both said things we shouldn’t have. Let’s just take a few days to…”

“No. A break from this,” I clarify, gesturing between us. “From us. This isn’t working anymore.”

“You’re being melodramatic, August. We’ve had fights before. We’ve said things we didn’t mean, and we always were able to work it out.”

I shake my head and look away, refusing to acknowledge the dejection on her face. “But I meant everything I said.”
