SPARK Blog Tour

Final Tour Banner

Synopsis

After being saved by a firefighter, Velaney Wills meets Eric Reilley, who recently moved from Texas to Boston to work on the Boston Fire Department. Ironically, Eric lives below Velaney and with his devilish charm, and sweet accent, Velaney is finding him hard to resist. Velaney grew up in what should've been the perfect childhood. Her father owns his own dental practice, and her mother a Pastor. She wasn't allowed to swear and never got into any trouble, however, her troubled and complicated past makes her build walls that she doesn't let down easily. Eric is fascinated with the fact that Velaney can't swear. She uses filler words to express herself that he often finds hilarious. Velaney runs as her outlet - releasing the rage and anger she has built up inside her from a deep secret she's never told anyone except her lifelong best friend, and roommate, Carissa. Eric and Velaney become running partners - only securing their obvious sexual tension between them. No matter how much Velaney pushes Eric away, he will always be there to save her.

REVIEW:

Who doesn't want a hot fireman in your life! Eric saves her life in the first few pages. Velaney does not have a great family life. In fact, Aiden, her brother, is the worst you can possibly have. I do not want to go into details of what happened to her to make her so stand offish, but it has much to do with him.
However Eric lives in the same building as her, walks into her apartment and makes her breakfast. Awesome! And all he wants to do is take care of her.
The book was good. It has the usual characters: the hot guy, the crazy roommate and the insecure main character. Her past is coming for her and anyone who she loves. It will be interesting to see what Eric will do to keep her safe.

I would give this a 3.7.

EXCERPTS:
"I was so worried, Velaney. What were you thinking coming into the woods?" He pulls back to look at me.
"I went for a run. I decided to take the scenic route," I mutter just above a whisper. "Are you mad?"
He chuckles lightly. "Velaney, I could never be mad at a beautiful woman like you. You are too precious to be running out here all by yourself." He looks me right in the eyes and pulls a piece of my hair behind my ear. I don't know why my whole body quivers every time he's near, and this time isn't an exception.
Part of me wants him to kiss me, while the other part wants to back away. His face is close to mine, looking soft and intimate. I'm not sure what to do, or if I should just wait for him to make the move. I stand there, waiting. He doesn't move. His hand is still wrapped around my ear as he looks at me intently.
"You are freezing," he mutters, leaning in closer. "Let's get you home where it's nice and warm." He smiles, moving his thumb across my cheek, then down my arm where he reaches for my hand. My body feels like I've been hit by lightening. The intense emotions that overfill my body are too much for me to handle. I want him to touch me so frigging badly, and the ache that stings between my thighs tells me just how much I want it.
We walk back to the car in silence. His hand is still holding mine, which is the only warm surface on my body. He's close to me so it's nearly impossible to ignore his scent. His husky aroma is mixed with aftershave, and it's the most amazing combination I've ever smelled. Perhaps, it was the way it smells on him, but the more I smell it, the more I want it. Want him.
Our arms brush each other as we walk out of the woods. I can finally see city lights and the beautiful blue sky. I expect him to release my hand now that we've reached the sidewalk, but he doesn't. He clenches it tighter as if he's sending me a message.
"How did you know where to find me?" I ask, as we approach his car.
"Carissa called me in a panic saying you were lost and that your phone lost connection. She begged me to get the whole fire department out here." He chuckles as he recalls their conversation. "I told her I'd find you just fine." He smiles, and opens the passenger car door for me. "And it looks like I did."

I smile back, getting in the car. I feel dumb...absolutely dumb. First, I get lost in the woods, and then he comes to my rescue...again. And now I'm so sexually frustrated, I can't even make words come out. How is he doing this to me?

The Law of Attraction Blog Tour

Title: The Law of Attraction
Author:  N.M. Silber
Genre: Sexy Romantic Comedy/Light Adult Contemporary Romance (18+)
Publication Date:  July 23, 2013
Cover Design:  Cheekycovers
Event organized by: Literati Author Services

Synopsis:

Once upon a time two lawyers fell in love across a courtroom …

Gabrielle Ginsberg was a public defender with plenty of nerve and Braden Pierce was an assistant district attorney with a whole lot of swagger. Gabrielle wanted Braden and Braden wanted Gabrielle.
And Cameron wanted Gabrielle.
And Marla wanted Braden.
And Cole wanted Gabrielle.
And Mrs. Mason wanted Braden.
And an anonymous letter writer wanted to keep Gabrielle and Braden apart.
Together Gabrielle and Braden discovered many important things, like which doors at the courthouse actually locked, and that desks could be useful for more than writing. They also found out that the path of love was not always smooth, and it was sometimes trod upon by some really wacky people, like a confused fanny grabber, an eighty-two year old pothead and a gentleman who threw a wine and cheese party in his pants. Could true love overcome a lack of privacy, interference by jealous rivals and the insanity of the criminal court system?

NOTICE: This book contains explicit descriptions of sexual situations and mature language. It is intended for readers over the age of eighteen.

Sunny's Review:

This book seriosly made me OMG and LOL from page 1. I could not stop laughing. I love it. BRADEN HAS BLOND HAIR AND IS A GOOD GUY!!! LOVE IT!! Gabrielle is great b/c she is driven, smart and owns her ridiculousness. She has to come out up with some crazy stories to try to get her defendents off. They usually don't work but hey she tries. Braden does a great job not laughing and I love the banter between the two in court. There is also so much sexual tension. There is a little bit of mystery and the fact that they talk all the time is awesome. They also have A LOT of fun scenes that will make you blush.

I am giving this book 4.3 out of 5 stars. I LOVE it and can't wait for the next book to come out. GO GET THIS BOOK!! You will not be disappointed!!

About the Author
Once upon a time ... N.M. Silber was a criminal defense attorney who got up each morning, donned her power suit and sensible pumps, downed a gallon of coffee and set out to "fight the good fight" while trying to not go insane. Having a dark sense of humor and a sarcastic wit helped -- a lot. Another thing that helped was reading. As escapism was the goal, she liked to read romance novels, especially really funny ones and really sexy ones. Then one day something beautiful happened -- she read one that was both funny and sexy at the same time. She hung up her power suit, put away her sensible pumps and moved her coffee mug to her computer. Now she writes funny and smutty romance novels herself and she lives happily ever after.

The Forgotten Ones by Laura Howard

Synopsis:

Allison O'Malley's plan is to go to grad school so she can get a good job and take care of her schizophrenic mother. She has carefully closed herself off from everything else, including a relationship with Ethan, who she's been in love with for as long as she can remember.

What is definitely not part of the plan is the return of her long-lost father, who claims he can bring Allison's mother back from the dark place her mind has gone. Allison doesn't trust her father, so why would she believe his stories about a long forgotten Irish people, the Tuatha de Danaan? But truths have a way of revealing themselves. Secrets will eventually surface. And Allison must learn to set aside her plan and work with her father if there is even a small chance it could restore her mother's sanity.

Sunny's Review:

You may or may not know that my favorite series is the Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning. This series has the Tuatha de Danaan in it so you know The Forgotten Ones was exciting for me. I love the Fey. So at the beginning of this book you get to see how Ali's life is. She watches her mom and never really gets to live life. She feels bad that her grandparents have had to take care of her. She tries to help them out too. She works hard and goes to school but doesn't really have a social life. I like that Ali is strong and tries to help her grandparents as much as possible. It is very apparent that she loves her family and will do anything for them.
Ethan has been trying to get Ali's attention. He seems really awesome. Works hard and seems to want the best for Ali. He doesn't really get that big of a role so far but I hope to see more of him.
I blew through this book so quickly. It is really good and the story line held my attention. I can't wait to see where this goes. There are so many questions that I have and I can only imagine this gets better and better. I think this book is a solid 4 stars out of 5. Make sure you click on the Amazon link above and BUY THIS BOOK!

Chimes from a Cracked Southern Belle by Susan Reinhardt

Title: Chimes of a Cracked Southern Belle
Author:  Susan Reinhardt
Genre: Women’s Fiction/Humor
Publication Date:  June 23, 2013
Event organized by: Literati Author Services
Synopsis
Most people think the reason Dee Millings married the best looking man in the Carolinas who turned out to be a complete psycho and near-murderer is because she was raised all wrong.
Dee, a 38-year-old heroine to root for, sets out on a path winding with loveable kooks, wanting to prove there is a great life on the other side of tragedy and a crazed ex behind bars who continues to mail threatening letters from prison. Her new adventure begins two years after the crime spree that nearly stopped her heart and left her flat-lining. She packs up her two young kids and settles in her parents' South Carolina hometown where she deals with a delightful, but over-the-top mama who pretends her grown daughters are virgins.
Dee finds new purpose for herself and her children, discovering joy in places she never expected it: in a nursing home where she tends to the likes of 104-year-old Annie Sue who still drives and has a hankering for cold draft beer. Offering heaps of comic relief, Dee's Aunt Weepie lives to crash funerals just to get the covered-dish meals after the gravesides, no matter she has no idea who's in the coffins. Her antics lead her to making a daring decision that could change Dee's life forever.
As Dee begins a journey toward recovery and becoming a registered nurse, a dark secret resurfaces, one that if handled right, could be her ticket to allowing herself to love again.

 Darra's Review:

I was excited to read a funny book. They are hard to find these days. So this book was calling my name. Dee(Prudy) got ran over by her psycho ex-husband. That alone makes this story different. And read a little at the end of the book and this was based off of true events. Those Southerners are crazy. Dee is just trying to make it thru life with the little her husband left her with(nothing). Starting over brand new.
Dee's family is really the funny part of the book. If you want to get an idea of how some old school southern women think, read about her Mom and Aunt Weepie. They made me LOL, which is very difficult. The whole going to funeral's for food is classic.
Love, love, love Annie Sue. I would die just sitting in the car with a 104 yr old driving. Annie is one of a kind. She made me laugh each time she came up in the book. The story about her boyfriend and his member...makes me laugh right now.
And about her high school love, Croc. At first she made him sound like he looked like the dog poop smeared across the bottom of your shoe. But the more you get to know him, the more you think AWWW. So sweet. And he got better looking, at least in my mind.
I like that the story is about a women that is not 110lbs, 5'8 gorgeous woman. She was real. And so was Croc. Ghandi size, but not everyone has a 6-pack and is 6'5 of perfection.

I would give this book a 4.0. It was a good read and a lighter book. Sometimes you need a little humor in your life.

BUSY BUSY AUGUST!!!

So as most of you know August is here...summer is almost over and WE ARE SO BUSY!!! There are so many things going on that Darra and I don't know if we are coming of going...ridiculous but wouldn't want it any other way. There are SO many GREAT books coming out this month!!!

So lets get started...if you have seen our FB posts we were ALL about Daemon and Katy last week with LUX series READATHON. Thanks again to the blogs that put that on (go follow them if you are not already) Stuck In BooksJust A Booklover and K-Books!!  We had a blast and it was almost like reading it for the first time again b/c so many people had different thoughts/views and loved the same parts as you. (PS I will be stalking eveyone's blog that participated!)

Tomorrow night I will be at Wicked and can't wait (so I will not be reading). Thank you again to everyone in my office for the B-Day present! I am so excited. This will be the second play I have ever been to. If you remember (or don't I have a blog post about it) my first experience was SPANK! If that comes to your city go see it...I laughed until I cried!

We posted on the Adult Page a review for Taken by You on the Adult Page. If you have not seen it, go check it out. That series is FREAKING awesome and CRAZY! I liked it a lot more than I thought I would and I am seriously kinda hung up on Neil...YUMMY!  We also have 3 more reviews coming this week (told you BUSY!) Two are tomorrow and one on Friday so keep a look out!  We also have 4 or 5 more blog tours this month not to mention several cover reveals...so...again keep watching for new stuff!

One of our first blogs EVER was a reveiw of The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen. Just in case you don't remember (and I don't want to go back and look see what my blogs looked like from
back then) I will give you a recap...I LOVED the book. I could not wait for The Redemption of Callie and Kayden. I loved that Kayden had problems too. He came across as the super HOT, PERFECT football star.  So anyways...LOVE the book. Guess what came out July 30???? That's right...THE REDEMPTION OF CALLIE AND KAYDEN!!!  I can't tell you what I think b/c I will have a review up soonish...

The next book out this month that I am so READY to read is LOVE ME by Jillian Dodd! This is another series that I have done several posts on. If you have not read any of them WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!??!!?? Get on it! Keatyn is a teenager and she has problems. A stalker and WAY too many boys to deal with. So basically her "perfect" life (like anyone has a perfect life but everyone thinks she does) is pulled out from under her and she has to survive by herself. So this is the 4th installment and I have been chomping at the bit to get my hands on this book! So this book comes out on August 11 and it will be a who is up at midnight with me to download ASAP.  If you have not gotten into this series Stalk Me is on sale on bn.com for $0.99. GO GET IT!  Yes, I know you are waiting...here is my plug for Jillian's other series! THAT BOY and THAT WEDDING are AWESOME!!! Phillip has been THE NUMBER 1 book boyfriend since that read and NOBODY has dethroned him yet!!! Danny is freaking awesome too and if I couldn't have Phillip I would DEFINITELY take Danny. (BTW Darra and I just had a good 5 minute trip down PHILLIP LANE with lots of *SIGHS*) I mean Jillian can definitely write some awesome boys. I mean lets look at Keatie's Boys...CUSH, AIDEN (The God of All Hotties), Dawson (YUMMY) and apparently a new bodyguard/soccer coach in this new book...so jealous...where were these boys when I was in high school??

LAST and certainly not least...ORIGIN by Jennifer L. Armentrout comes out August 27th!!!! CAN'T WAIT!!! So we did the Lux Readathon last weekend and all I can think about is getting my hands on this book. I will be out of comminsion for the day it will take me to read this book. I am going to try to drag it out for at least 2 days but lets be honest...not gonna happen! If you haven't read this series...do it. I put it off b/c I was like "Seriously Darra. Aliens? Come on!" As usual she was right...ALIENS!!!

I think that is all that is going on this month...OH WAIT!!! Just in case Darra and I were not busy enough we joined Fantasy Football today...SOOOOOOO...yeah...we are CRAZY! (I need help with my Team Name so if you have any ideas...I love the Colts and Peyton Manning....)  I am also sure more stuff will happen b/c SOMEONE agrees to blog tours without looking at the calendar and stickies!!!! (not naming names)
