Broken Truth by Beth Ashworth!!!

Title: Broken Truth
Author: Beth Ashworth
Genre: Contemporary Adult Romance
Publication Date: November 15th, 2013

Life for Charlotte (Charlie) Harris couldn’t be any better at this moment in time. She has her dream job, she has the extremely wealthy knight in shining armour and she has the best friends a girl could ever ask for. On paper, the beautiful world unfolding at her feet almost appears too good to be true for a working class girl from Manchester right?

But what happens when you gloss over the statistics and realise that the happy bubble you have been living in for the past fifteen months has all been a twisted, torturous path of lies? What if you realised that the person you loved wasn’t who they claimed to be any longer?

With the once sacred and happy memories now turned into hatred and despair, Charlie must now follow her instincts to either forget her past and move on or force the hand that holds the cards to her life to reshuffle the deck before it leads onto the twisted future that lies in store.

What will she choose?

Can she forgive and forget for the only man her heart has ever loved?

Sunny's Review:

At first I totally hated Charlie. I can't lie. I wanted to just yell at her for being dumb and was so annoyed with her. I didn't like Callum either because I thought he was a cheating jerk and I really hate cheaters. Don't get me wrong...they are so freaking hot together and if I was Charlie maybe I would have been dense, blind and dumb too. So once some of the truths come out I had to change my opinion of Charlie. She did stick to her guns and did not give him a chance to weasel his way back into her life. Now having said that...I did like a lot of the small twists and turns the plot took and how everything was not black and white.

I ended up really liking this book and I think you will too. Hopefully I did not put in any spoilers but I recommend you read this book. I am giving it a strong 4 out of 5 stars.

Beth Ashworth was born in Manchester in 1990, but shortly moved to the modest city of Coventry where she was raised and still resides now.

As a vivid reader from a very early age, Beth has always been keen to put her words onto paper. As a child she was always found with either a book in her hand, a pen and notepad or a computer games controller.

Starting off by initially writing alternate endings to her favourite Jacqueline Wilson books from around the age of ten, Beth has continued to grow and love her passion for books.

Eventually, after many unfinished books and short stories, she finally decided to follow her passion and write books that she hopes people will love.

When she isn't reading or writing, Beth loves to spend time with her husband and friends

Darra's Review:

When I received this book in the mail, I was extremely excited to read it. The book is well written and has a plot like I never have read before. Very original and enjoyed it immensely. The story goes straight into Lucie losing her memory and is found in a place unknown. has no idea who she is and the ones she loves. Throughout this book her main plan is to find her past self. The one person that loves her most is Grady.
I am going to say this first, I love him. He is very patient, loving and calm. Exact opposite of who Lucie use to be. How can she keep her relationship going with a man that still loves her past self.
The life she lived before was what she strived to find out about. Even things that Lucie kept Grady from knowing. There are things from her childhood that are mouth dropping that I can't give anymore away!
I recommend this book to anyone that loves a great story. Believable characters that you feel you may know someone like them. I truly did love the new Lucie and Grady.

I rate this book a 4.4. Surprising ending!

Sunny's Review:

I absolutely love this book. If you have not read Pretty Little Lies go get it now and start. You get to see how Olivia ended up where she is.  The last book was a huge cliffhanger and this book picks up about a month later. You do get to find out what happened in the month. Olivia is awesome in that she is strong willed and tries to pick up the pieces of her life again. I love the way Jennifer shows you what Luke is going through. He is a good guy that can't really deal with the fact that Olivia was hurt and he didn't/couldn't help her. You get to see what an emotional turmoil they try to get though.

I love the way Jennifer can really make you feel what her characters are feeling. I recommend you go get these books and read them. They are AWESOME!!! I am giving this book 4.5 stars out of 5.

TEASER:

EXCERPT:

I don’t want to do this today.  At all.  Carrying my clothes, I grudgingly walk to the bathroom so I can change.  Once I’m dressed, I take in my reflection in the mirror before me.  My eyes look sad.  I have dark circles that have become a permanent fixture, given that a good night’s sleep hasn’t been easy to come by lately.  My shoulders appear to be drooping slightly.  I sigh.  Not much I can do about it.

I want to rip this fucking monkey suit off my body.  Every part of me is begging me to do it. I just want to head back to her bed and shove my face in her pillow again.  I want to pull the covers over my head, drown myself in her essence, and escape from reality for a little while longer.  Wanting her here has turned into a physical ache; a pain deep in my gut and chest that can’t be calmed or relieved.

I catch myself rubbing at my chest like I can smooth the pain away.  It doesn’t work.

            “Luke?  Are you almost ready?”

The sound of Pyper’s voice snaps me out of my thoughts.  Walking out of the bathroom, I look at Pyper, taking in her appearance.  She looks nice.  She’s wearing a black dress and smiling a little at me, but it quickly falls, as if smiling on a day like today is sacrilege.  She’s sporting dark circles under her eyes as well, and there is sadness in her eyes too.

“I don’t want to do this today, Pyper.” I confess.

Closing the distance between us, she starts straightening my tie.  “I know this is something neither of us wants to do right now, but it will be okay.  You can lean on me for support, and I will lean on you.  It’s all we can do, okay?”

I give her a slight nod, my thoughts drifting elsewhere.  I can’t look at Pyper anymore without my mind automatically going back to that awful day.  It’s the day that my life took a brutal nose dive into the fucking abyss.

Excerpt
My eyes narrow. “If you ever even think about spanking me, I'm going to beat the crap out of you, Trevor.” His eyebrow rises. “You think you can take me?” “No.” I shrug. “But I will give it my best shot.” His smile is so devastating that it takes my breath. “When you’re giving it your best shot, are our clothes on or off?”

Sunny's Review:

So I think I might like Trevor even more than I liked Asher. Usually I like the 1st character I read the most but for some reason Trevor beat out his brother. I guess because he really considered Liz his friend before anything else. I like Liz because she doesn't always just go along with what Trevor says. She stands up for herself and in the beginning she goes and gets a job she hates just so she can make ends meet and does not take any handouts. There was some mystery in this book and you get to see a little bit more of Asher and November as well as Cash. I am looking forward to reading Until Lily which is Cash's book.

I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars. I really like this series. It is a fairly easy and quick read and you will fall in love with the characters very quickly.  This is an adult book.

Rome by Jay Crownover

Title: Rome (Marked Men #3)
Author: Jay Crownover
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date: January 7, 2014 Publisher: William Morrow an imprint of HarperCollins Publishing
Event organized by: Literati Author Services, Inc.
Synopsis
Cora Lewis is a whole lot of fun, and she knows how to keep her tattooed bad boy friends in line. But all that flash and sass hide the fact that she’s never gotten over the way her first love broke her heart. Now she has a plan to make sure that never happens again: She’s only going to fall in love with someone perfect.
Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He’s stubborn and rigid, he’s bossy and has come back from his final tour of duty fundamentally broken. Rome’s used to filling a role: big brother, doting son, super soldier; and now none of these fit anymore. Now he’s just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes the only color on his bleak horizon.
Perfect isn’t in the cards for these two, but imperfect might just last forever . . .

Darra's Review:

I have to say, Jay Crownover, you made me cry again. I think Jay has outdone herself with the latest book, Rome. When I think I love Jet the most, I started to love Rule more. Then Rome came along and has taken the #1 spot of hot book boyfriends of Jay's.
Besides the crying(sad to type this out, but it was a rolling down the cheek crying. What a mess!) the book was great. Rome comes home from the being in the army for 10 years. As you can imagine, Rome is left with major baggage. He has his moments of breakdowns with all the memories. He needed to change his new life back to where he was at before he left.
Cora was introduced in the past books. She is a badass tinkerbell. Full of life and everyone loves her and wants to protect her. But she can't get over her broken heart. All she is looking for is the perfect man to replace what she was left with. She meets Rome, hates him and somehow wants to help him. Also the fact he is part of the Archer family leaves a small place in her heart. She always wants to take care of everyone.
As you can imagine, their relationship changes into a real romance. They can be a mess at times but great at others. I am not going to say much. BUT the part at the bar and Rome protecting her along with seeing his brother, that was when I had the cryfest. Read, you will understand.

I love Jay's books and how they seem to intertwine with each characters is seamlessly. They start back up to the happily ever afters we had with the other books. Love each one!

I would rate this book a 4.5. Congrats to Jay for another awesome book. Now read it!

Heller is back!

Holy Monkeybutts! The next book in the Heller series will be out 1/7! Many of you may not know much about JD Nixon. But her books make me laugh my arse off! When I first read Heller, I was leery of it because of the cover. Yes, covers make a huge difference. But once I read the first book, I could not stop!
The Heller books are on one of my top 5 Series book. I read a lot of books that has sad backgrounds. But Tilly, the main character, comes from a great family and is still a train wreck. Not in a I hate my life, I am a slore. But more of that awkward, badass, goofy way.

Top 3 favorite female leads in the book overall list. You just want to be her friend. Tilly is a riot!
This will be on Smashwords on Monday or Tuesday. B&N and Amazon? Not sure when.

I am going to twist your arm and annoy you to death if you do not read the series! And I will be very busy next week. Nixon's books are around 300 pages, so you get your moneys worth.

She has another series, Blood Ties that is good as well. She has a blog of Tilly and Tess(main character of Blood Ties). Awesome.

Read now. I am sure you will see Sunny's and I reviews soon!
