Rome by Jay Crownover

Title: Rome (Marked Men #3)
Author: Jay Crownover
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date: January 7, 2014 Publisher: William Morrow an imprint of HarperCollins Publishing
Event organized by: Literati Author Services, Inc.
Synopsis
Cora Lewis is a whole lot of fun, and she knows how to keep her tattooed bad boy friends in line. But all that flash and sass hide the fact that she’s never gotten over the way her first love broke her heart. Now she has a plan to make sure that never happens again: She’s only going to fall in love with someone perfect.
Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He’s stubborn and rigid, he’s bossy and has come back from his final tour of duty fundamentally broken. Rome’s used to filling a role: big brother, doting son, super soldier; and now none of these fit anymore. Now he’s just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes the only color on his bleak horizon.
Perfect isn’t in the cards for these two, but imperfect might just last forever . . .

Darra's Review:

I have to say, Jay Crownover, you made me cry again. I think Jay has outdone herself with the latest book, Rome. When I think I love Jet the most, I started to love Rule more. Then Rome came along and has taken the #1 spot of hot book boyfriends of Jay's.
Besides the crying(sad to type this out, but it was a rolling down the cheek crying. What a mess!) the book was great. Rome comes home from the being in the army for 10 years. As you can imagine, Rome is left with major baggage. He has his moments of breakdowns with all the memories. He needed to change his new life back to where he was at before he left.
Cora was introduced in the past books. She is a badass tinkerbell. Full of life and everyone loves her and wants to protect her. But she can't get over her broken heart. All she is looking for is the perfect man to replace what she was left with. She meets Rome, hates him and somehow wants to help him. Also the fact he is part of the Archer family leaves a small place in her heart. She always wants to take care of everyone.
As you can imagine, their relationship changes into a real romance. They can be a mess at times but great at others. I am not going to say much. BUT the part at the bar and Rome protecting her along with seeing his brother, that was when I had the cryfest. Read, you will understand.

I love Jay's books and how they seem to intertwine with each characters is seamlessly. They start back up to the happily ever afters we had with the other books. Love each one!

I would rate this book a 4.5. Congrats to Jay for another awesome book. Now read it!

About the Author
I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that. I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.

Rule with a Little Bit of Jet by Jay Crownover!!

Title: Rule  (A Marked Men Novel #1)
Author:  Jay Crownover
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date:  May 7th, 2013
Event organized by: Literati Author Services
Publisher: William Morrow an imprint of HarperCollins

Synopsis:

Opposites in every way . . . except the one that matters

Shaw Landon loved Rule Archer from the moment she laid eyes on him. Rule is everything a straight--A pre-med student like Shaw shouldn't want--and the only person she's never tried to please. She isn't afraid of his scary piercings and tattoos or his wild attitude. Though she knows that Rule is wrong for her, her heart just won't listen.

To a rebel like Rule Archer, Shaw Landon is a stuck-up, perfect princess-and his dead twin brother's girl. She lives by other people's rules; he makes his own. He doesn't have time for a good girl like Shaw-even if she's the only one who can see the person he truly is.

But a short skirt, too many birthday cocktails, and spilled secrets lead to a night neither can forget. Now, Shaw and Rule have to figure out how a girl like her and a guy like him are supposed to be together without destroying their love . . . or each other.

Darra's Review:

I believe I am torn between Rule & Jet. If I had to choose, it would be Rule. Despite all his baggage from his strained family issues. Rule had a twin that was best friends with Shaw. The girl he thinks is a snob and came from a rich family. Little did he know she has family issues as well. Quite terrible if you ask me.
When you read this book, you will get to see how two very different people, from opposite sides can actually be together and love one another. Rule changes so much within the book and it is so sweet that he does it for her. I think that is how Rule won over my love for him. Plus I did like Shaw, which seems to be rare lately to find the girl that is so oblivious to the world.
I give this book a 4.1. Read both books so you get to hear all the drama from Shaw's best friend, Ayden.

Sunny's Review:

I really liked this book. You have Rule who is the TOTAL definition of a manwhore and he is totally fine with it. You also have Shaw who basically has her life together. Shaw has been in love with Rule FOREVER and has never given up on him. I like Shaw b/c you have the perfect pampered princess that is really down to earth. Granted she had crappy parents and spent most of her time with Rule's twin brother, Remy.
You get to see how Rule is trying to deal with life after losing his twin brother. His mother totally blames him and at the end of the day so does Rule. Shaw works really hard to break through to him that he is really awesome and should not be so hard on himself. Rule is definitely intense and you kind of have to just love him even though he is a total jerk to Shaw most of the time.
I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars. Go get it and then you HAVE to read JET too. It is the next book in the series. (Jet is awesome too even though he is metal)

Title: Jet  (A Marked Men Novel #2)
Author:  Jay Crownover
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date:  May 28, 2013
Event organized by: Literati Author Services
Publisher: William Morrow an imprint of HarperCollins

Synopsis:

With his tight leather pants and a sharp edge that makes him dangerous, Jet Keller is every girl’s rock and roll fantasy. But Ayden Cross is done walking on the wild side with bad boys. She doesn’t want to give in to the heat she sees in Jet’s dark, haunted eyes. She’s afraid of getting burned from the sparks of their spontaneous combustion, even as his touch sets her on fire.

Jet can’t resist the Southern Belle with mile-long legs in cowboy boots who defies his every expectation. Yet the closer he feels to Ayden, the less he seems to know her. While he’s tempted to get under her skin and undo her in every way, he knows firsthand what happens to two people with very different ideas about relationships.

Will the blaze burn into an enduring love. . . or will it consume their dreams and turn them to ashes?

About the Author:

Jay Crownover is the best-selling author of Rule. Like the characters in her Marked Men series, she is a big fan of tattoos. She loves music and wishes she could be a rock star, but since she has no aptitude for singing or instrument playing, she'll settle for writing stories with interesting characters and that make the reader feel something. She lives in Colorado with her three dogs.
