The Other Side of Someday by T.K. Leigh Reviews!!!

Title: The Other Side Of Someday
Author: T.K. Leigh
Genre: Romantic Comedy / Chick Lit

 Release Date: June 6, 2016

Blurb

You know how you always say someday I will?
Well, I’ve hit my someday.
Someday begins today.

Baylee Morgan is at a crossroads of her life. Leaving her marriage of ten years and the only life she’s ever known, she starts over in a penthouse ocean-front condo in Santa Monica, California. She soon finds herself immersed, albeit reluctantly, in the daunting and perilous world of dating as an almost thirty-something in Los Angeles, unsure of how to act, what to do, or whether that hot guy she meets in yoga class is straight.

Sebby Powers’ dream has always been to work in the film industry. At the age of thirty-five, he’s one of the youngest up-and-coming producers in Hollywood. His life is perfect. Perfect apartment. Perfect girlfriend. Perfect dog. Until a friendship with a beautiful woman with vibrant red hair and a similar taste in cheesy movies throws his perfect life into a tailspin.

The Other Side Of Someday is a fun, sexy story of looking for Mr. Right in a world full of Mr. Wrongs, when Mr. Right could be just next door.

Darra's Review:

I am a fan of TK Leigh and was definitely interested in this new Romantic Comedy genre she was leaping into. If you have not read her other books, get on it! You will not be disappointed.
True statement, I loath hearing about a cheater. This happens to Baylee. I ca't imagine being with someone for so long and the a-hole of a husband does that to her. She is moving on and I think that is what she needed to move on. Sure, it is hard to restart life in your 30's. Not expected. However what came to be in her new apartment is friends and a bit more than that. The dates, hilarious. Don't think I will forget what a mess it was for her,
She does meet a guy and you will instantly love. Such interesting conversations, kept my interest. Then surprise! It was Sebby. A guy she can't have but is so into him and he can't reciprocate the same feelings.
I did want to punch Sebby once the truth was out. However it was not completely his fault. Regardless, you will root for both of them to get together. I will leave the rest for you to read.
BTW-awesome friends.

Did I like the book? Yes, it was a light, fun read and do like this side of TK Leigh. I am looking forward to reading more from her. TK Leigh writes so each reader wants more. The story has ended, but the characters will stick with you. Her stories have substance and that is why TK Leigh is set a part from other writers.

I rate the book a 4.5.

Sunny's Review:

I was not sure if I was going to like this book. I ended up really liking it. It was a fun read in that you got to watch a great friendship grow. Baylee was an interesting character. Even though she is in her late twenties she seems a lot younger. Very naive and once you see more of her past you understand why. There were a lot of times that I wanted to just tell her to stop talking. She was embarrassing herself and I was embarrassed for her. I think that shows great writing since I was feeling so much. Sebby was a little bit of a mystery to me. He was super nice and seemed like a really great guy. I loved watching the banter with them. They became friends and there were a lot of little things that made me just sigh. You could see the attraction right away and as their friendship grew, so did their affection for each other.

I recommend you getting this book. Read it when you feel like all hope is lost in romance and love. I am giving this book 4.5 stars out of 5.

Excerpt

“Sebby?” I called out, hesitantly walking through the entryway and into the open living space.

“Holy shit!” I exclaimed when my eyes settled on him standing in front of his refrigerator. But that wasn’t what caught me completely off-guard. It was the fact that he was standing there, holding a towel in his hand, exposing himself in all his glory. I quickly spun around, my entire face turning a shade of red that would put my hair color to shame.

“Fuck!” he shouted. “Do you take the world’s quickest shower or something?!”

“Balls,” I muttered, keeping my eyes glued to a large print of a vintage DC-10 that was hanging on the entryway wall.

“What?” he countered, his voice turning light and amused. I could almost picture that sexy and adorable smile drawn on those kissable lips of his.

“There were balls. And stuff.”

He laughed harder than I had heard him laugh in the few weeks I had known him, the rumble echoing in the open space.

“I’ll never be able to look at you again without seeing your balls, Sebby. Just thought you should know that.” I drew a long breath, trying to settle my nerves. Seeing his mouth-watering body completely bare didn’t help matters any. “Here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to go back to my apartment. I’m going to have a shot of whiskey. Or tequila. Or gin. Or whatever will make my blood pressure drop. And then I’m going to come back and we’ll try this again, okay?”

“I promise I’ll be dressed when you come back.”

“Why were you bare ass naked in your kitchen anyway? Did you want me to walk in on you like that? Trying to show off?”

“Do you think I have something to show off?”

“I… Well…” I shook it off. “I’m not answering that.”

“Okay then.”

“Okay.”

“Baylee…?”

“Yes?” I turned around as one often does when their name is called.

“Jesus!” His expression grew wide and he hastily attempted to hide himself.

“For fuck’s sake!” I spun back and faced the door once more. “Did you not think to cover yourself up after the first time I walked in and saw you naked? I’m still standing here. You know that bath towels serve some rather astonishing purposes these days, the most useful of which being something to wrap around your waist to keep your junk covered! I’m leaving and taking two shots of whiskey. Be back in five minutes.”

He’s trying to protect his heart… She’s a shell of the girl she once was… Can he chase away the demons threatening to destroy her?
Mackenzie Delano craves control. After tragedy strikes during her freshman year of college, she compensates for the helplessness she felt by micro-managing every aspect of her life, from her business life to her social life…to her love life. But she wasn’t expecting to cross paths with a mysterious man who seems to invade her every thought. Tyler Burnham has been living his life with one rule in mind…never fall in love. Focusing solely on his career, he is able to remain a detached observer of life… Until a case is dropped in his lap, forcing him to form an intimate relationship with a sharp-tongued woman in order to obtain the location of a man deemed an enemy of the State. When Tyler finds himself falling for Mackenzie, will he be able push his feelings aside and recover the information he needs? Or will he put the mission and their lives at risk to follow his heart? Chasing The Dragon is the first installment of a two part series of deception and betrayal where nothing is as it seems. ***Note - Chasing The Dragon is the first book in a two-book duet and is a spin-off of T.K. Leigh's USA Today Best Selling Beautiful Mess series. It is not necessary to have read that series in order to read this duet, but it will contain a mild spoiler from the third book in the Beautiful Mess series, Gorgeous Chaos.***

Darra's Review:

Let me start I love Mr. Burham. So when I heard that Mr. Burnham's brother will have his own book, I had to get my hands on it! I  knew that Tyler would be different than his brother. However I had no idea how much.
Tyler is a man with his heart on his sleeve. Now I cannot say this is the case with each girl he meets. With Mackenzie around, it makes it a challenge to prevent this. Despite her being part of his mission, their relationship grows to more than what he wanted.
At the end, more people in The Beautiful Mess book series get involved. As T.K. Leigh's book before, the plot evolves to a story with twists and turns that left me completely perplexed. Such a tease with the cliff hanger!
As I have said before, I do not know of any book I have not loved from T.K. Leigh. I am looking forward to the next installment of Tyler and Mackenzie.

I rate the book a 4.4.

“Dance with me, Mackenzie,” he said, holding my hand in his, sensually placing the other just below my hip bone. “What are you−” “Shhh…,” he admonished, expertly leading me in our dance, the band playing Cole Porter’s Every Time We Say Goodbye. “Just enjoy it and don’t think.” I simply nodded, turning my head to scan the restaurant. “Mackenzie, eyes on me. I need to know you’re with me.” I snapped my eyes back to his, my mouth slightly agape as my heart pounded in my chest. He was warm and spellbinding. The way he held me in his arms comforted me and made me feel as if they were made to hold me. “Are you with me?” he asked, raising his eyebrows. “Yes,” I said, my voice soft. He leaned toward me and the bit of stubble on his chin brushed my skin. “Yes what?” he whispered. “I’m with you.” The corners of his lips turned up slightly and there was a spark about him that wasn’t present yesterday. “I like the sound of that, Miss Delano.” He pulled me closer and I tilted my head to peer into his striking eyes, needing the connection I felt at that moment. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced, all because of a well-placed hand, a sinfully sexy voice, eyes that made me want to melt, and arms that felt like home. “Who would have thought that the Mackenzie whose lips I couldn’t stop seeing in my dreams last night would turn out to be Mackenzie Delano, proprietor of South Padre’s hottest new spot?” “How did−” “Shhh,” he said once more. “You think too much. Just enjoy the moment because it’s over once the band plays the final note to this melody.” I snapped my mouth shut, a strange awareness of loss washing over me at the prospect of this complete stranger walking away from me once the song came to an end, wondering if I would ever see him again. “You’re a lovely dancer, Miss Delano,” he commented. “Thank you,” I answered, unsure of whether to say anything further. He seemed to be in complete control of the dance, of his words…and of mine. And, for the first time, I was okay with someone else calling the shots. “You have a dancer’s body. I’m confident you’ve bewitched quite a few men with the way you can seamlessly navigate the dance floor.” He leaned toward me and whispered, “I must confess… You’ve bewitched me.” His voice was sweet as it crooned in my ear, and I was left a silent, blubbering mute, the sincerity in his declaration sparking a renewed sense of longing I had ignored for years. My breathing grew ragged, and I was unable to formulate any response. I simply lost myself in the moment of our dance, wanting his sensual words to ring in the recesses of my mind for all eternity. I wished I could have recorded his voice murmuring those endearing words to me so I could replay them over and over again when I needed to feel something I didn’t think I would ever feel again. He molded my frame to his, our bodies swaying to the classic tune, and began to sing along with the band. I imagined he was singing to me, and me alone. His voice was deep and guttural, but sweet as he leaned toward my neck and crooned the last verse into my ear. I closed my eyes, losing myself in his warmth, his voice, his everything. All too soon, the final note rang out, silence encompassing the room, but we continued to sway to the music in our heads, our rhythm perfectly in tune to each other. A loud drum kick echoed, startling me, and I opened my eyes, almost expecting it all to be a dream. But it wasn’t, and I was met with my mysterious stranger’s strong face. Time stood still as we simply stared at each other, neither one of us moving. I licked my dry lips, nerves causing my breathing to grow more intense and labored. He grabbed my hand and brought it to his soft lips, placing a kiss on it. The contact caused a rush of adrenaline to run through me. Before I could ask his name, he was gone, leaving me stunned and alone once more.

A Tragic Wreck is the continuation of T.K. Leigh’s heart-breakingBeautiful Mess series.

Darra's Review:

I cannot express my love for Alexander. The moment this book was available, I spent the next 4 hours reading. Once again T.K. Leigh sucked me into her world of Mr. Burnham and Olivia's for the follow up book, A Tragic Wreck. I have been waiting for this follow up books for months and T.K. Leigh has been teasing us with pictures and little excerpts on FB and it has driven me mad!

This book starts right where A Beautiful Mess ended; in absolute disarray of their lives. Olivia could not handle the truth of what Alexander kept from her in all the time they were together. She can't live with him but can't function without him. The only sanity she has left remains when she meets a surfer she has eyed for the last month. The only problem is she can't mask the feelings she has for Alexander and move on with her life.

As for Alexander, he is left back in Boston knowing he has scared off the only person he has ever loved. My heart was broken 90% of this book. I know I had a looked like someone just kicked my puppy reading it. Now the story of what happens after the break up with Alexander, I cannot tell you. You may curse at me for spoiling it.

I will admit I wanted to yell, cuss, cry and smile when reading this. Okay, I cried....But I guarantee you will too. Loved it till the end. I need more Mr. Burnham and expect him as fast as humanly possible!

I rate the book a 4.8 out of 5. This is an epic rating for an epic story. I will only expect the next book to be the best. One of the best love stories.....sigh.
