Jordan by Lindsay Paige and Mary Smith!!!

Synopsis:

The Ninth Inning series presents Memphis Angels' shortstop, Jordan Johnson.

Jordan Johnson loves his wife more than anything. After suffering a traumatic loss together, he's willing to give her whatever she needs. She needs space, he'll give her space. She needs time, he'll give her time. However, when Heidi asks for a divorce, Jordan refuses to give it to her. It's tough sometimes, but Jordan won't stop fighting for them.

Heidi Johnson's life seems to be a fairytale with the perfect baseball husband, the great vacation beach house, and a good career. Then, tragedy hit her from nowhere. Now, she's trying to figure out which way is up and which is down. She figures leaving Jordan and focusing on opening her own business will make the pain go away, but it doesn't help. Finally, she tells Jordan a divorce is what she needs, but he's too stubborn to give her what she wants the most.

Jordan won't give up on her and Heidi won't change her mind. Will he push her further away by reminding her of what they had? Will she push him too far with her rejections that he'll never come back? Or can they save their marriage?

When they're put into the ninth inning, will Jordan be able to hold tight to Heidi or will her stubbornness be the end of the game?

Sunny's Review:

I finished this book in less than a day. I love this series and I have been wondering what was going on with Jordan and his wife. He makes appearances in all the previous books. He never really says anything bad about his wife or marriage but it has been very curious to me. So I will say I freaking LOVE Jordan so much. I mean he might really be my favorite now. He is so beyond pretty much perfect it is crazy. I was planning on hating Heidi and Jordan in this book. I can honestly say that I didn't. I really kind of love them both. Heidi is insane but she has a very good reason to be. I don't blame her in any way. I think that Lindsay and Mary did a great job of showing something that I think happens to a lot of couples in their situation. I am not going to spoil this for you.

Heidi proves that she is strong and can survive on her own. Jordan shows that while he can do that too, he doesn't want to. If you haven't started this series you need to go get them all and start reading them. I am pretty sure I will probably go through them all again before Colby comes out next month.

I am giving this book 4.8 stars out of 5.

My Dirty Detour (An Alpha Male Mafia Comedy Romance) by Grace Risata REVIEW!

Synopsis:
A dominant leader flees the mafia, looking for a fresh start in a small town. He put all his effort into starting a business and resigned himself to a life without love.
A neurotic germaphobe lives vicariously through the books she reads, preferring to play it safe in real life and hide behind her sarcastic remarks.
“I am NOT that neurotic! I just have germ issues and I tend to over-analyze things. Sure, I second guess myself all the time and have a tendency to freak out over the small stuff. I’ll admit that I do ask a lot of “what if…?” questions. Fine. I’m neurotic.”
One fateful day, the simple act of taking a wrong turn leads Violet right into Rocky’s life and completely turns it upside down. Accustomed to his orders being obeyed immediately and without question, Rocky doesn’t appreciate Violet challenging his authority at every opportunity.
“I don’t like being told what to do. Especially when some arrogant tough guy thinks he can boss me around. I might have argued with him just to keep him close. He smelled like heaven. Although with a body like his, I knew he was no angel.
Violet charmed her way into his heart with her quick wit and stubbornness, causing Rocky to fail at his many attempts to resist her.
“He’d never met anyone like me before. I trash talk, curse like a sailor, and pretty much say whatever’s on my mind. Life is too short to pretend to be something that you’re not.”
Rocky tries to keep his violent past hidden from Violet, but it suddenly catches up to him and he can no longer deny who he really is. Will Rocky turn his back on the life he built or stay and fight for what’s his? When Violet is faced with situations that rival anything she’s merely read about, will she be able to face her fears and work together with Rocky or will the truth tear them apart?
“It’s one hell of a wild ride! Take a look inside the first few pages and I’ll tell you all about it.”

Follow the journey of Rocky and Violet as they take a dirty detour…
Please note: As is often the case after “Boy Meets Girl” but before “Happily Ever After,” Steamy Bedroom Scenes will occur. Well….some of the steamy scenes actually take place outside the bedroom. You’ll have to read the book to find out more!

This is a full length, stand-alone novel with no cliffhangers.

Darra's Review:

I was given the opportunity to review My Dirty Detour and absolutely loved the characters. Violet and Rocky. Also Dmitry Sergio, Irina, Vasily.....That really makes a huge difference in a book. Like the characters, you want to read more about them.
Violet is one of the best female characters. The reason why she is so great is because she is one of a kind. The weird girl in school. Kind of reluctant to talk to, but have the most fascinating conversations. When she meets Rocky by accident, he is a total douche. A bit disappointing, but no one is perfect. He redeems himself to the point you will fall in love with him.
Have you ever read a Mafia book and noticed that they may look and act all scary but deep down they are big teddy bears? That's Rocky.
I can't tell you why I liked Dmitry so much. He was blunt and stand offish. But he treated Violet well. Kind of want to see more of him.
At the end, crazy things go down and Rocky has to defend Violet from his past. His ex is psycho, putting that lightly. All perfect and fake, makes you want to barf. And the fact Rocky likes the down to earth, girl next door(Violet) more than the Barbie doll wanna be women he grew up with, gives him a 5 star rating.

Worth your time. Made me LOL a few times. If you want a light and funny book, this is it!

I rate the book a 4.5. Enjoy!

The Ouija Board by Shelby White!!!

Synopsis:

When Alycia and her three best friends bought a Ouija board for some late night entertainment, they came in contact with something that defies all reason. They find themselves faced with questions that would make others run in fear. Delving into this frightening unknown, they soon discover they are dealing with a force more powerful than they could possibly understand.

Enlisting some knowledgeable help on supernatural entities, they are introduced to a world they never thought existed. As they try to maintain the normalcy of their summer break and figure out how to rid themselves of this other worldly being they realize their lives will never be the same and that some games aren’t meant to be played with.

Darra's Review:

When going into this, obviously we know what this book entails. Ouija board! It is a group of girls that are asking for trouble when that Ouija board comes to life. Personally I would have taken it out to the back yard and burned it the first time. However you can't help be intrigued with what's to come next.
Little did they know a psycho from way back when wants what use to be his. I would be scared out of my mind if a ghost may cause bodily harm to me. What do you do when you have no control over a haunting soul? This book becomes really interesting in the middle of the book that continued to pull me in to read the rest.
Good ending, but it is unfinished. Horror will come in the next book and definitely interested in finding out more.

I rate the book a 4.2.

Sunny's Review:

I liked this book. I am going to be honest and tell you that I had a Ouija board when I was younger and it scared the hell out of me. Needless to say, I was super excited to read this book. I really like that Shelby did such a great job of reminding me what it was like to be in high school and home for the summer. You have four best friends that young enough to still be kids and old enough to be able to run around on their own. I really liked all of the girls.

Basically, the girls go and find a Ouija Board and decide to buy it not really knowing what it was. They are all staying at Alycia's house and start playing with it late that night. The spirit that begins talking to them is pretty evil and aggressive. The girls decide to put the game away but they are seriously freaked out. You get to see them trying to figure out what they are supposed to do about a spirit that is now telling them to get out of Alycia's house and doing weird things to the game board.

If you want a quick suspenseful read, this is your book. I enjoyed it and am giving it 4.2 stars out of 5. Go get this book!!

Reese King: Olympic medalist, underwear model, Greek god.

His body is chiseled from rock, sculpted by the weight room, and refined by water.

On a daily basis his skin is completely bare for everyone to see, tan and defined, only covered up by a minuscule piece of spandex. There is no denying his sex appeal.

I hate to admit it, but I’m head over heels infatuated with him.

There is one HUGE problem though. His achingly gorgeous abs, inked up arm, and cocky swagger belong to my boss, the high-profile, reality star bitch from hell and certified heinous human being, Bellini Chambers.

What I think is going to be an easy job assisting a glorified wench turns into a cluster f*ck of epic proportions.

About the Authors:
Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if "It's Raining Men" starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing... enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Layers of Her by Prescott Lane!!!

layers of her - blog tour.jpg

A Letter to my Readers
Rape. Just typing that word makes my gut tie up in knots. And that’s part of the problem.
Because it’s so uncomfortable, we don’t want to talk about it. So it gets buried at the bottom the newsfeed or forgotten altogether, like the backlog of untested rape kits.

Last March, I released Quiet Angel in which the heroine is a survivor of childhood sexual assault. A few weeks later, my husband became gravely ill, and we spent the rest of the year (5 long hospital stays and 4 long surgeries) fighting to regain his health. As I sat in the hospital chair next to his bed night after night, I got messages from women about how my book touched them. Some shared their reasons, and others didn’t.

I came to learn that April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. How could I not know that? just released a book on the very topic. Yet I didn’t see one post about it on any of my social media accounts.

Early this year, I began writing Layers of Her with the intent to spread awareness and donate of April's profits to charity. I was nervous when I started, and I still am. I mean, how much the profits be? Will readers assume I’m a survivor or I know one? Will I do the topic justice?

Why am I doing this? It’s a whole lot easier to stay silent. But that’s the whole problem, isn’t I work in a field, in the genre of fiction, that is mostly comprised of women, where sexual assault is one of the most common tropes. And with each passing page, we pull for our broken heroes and heroines to heal, find love, forge a new path. That's all we want for them. We need to do same for the real life heroes and heroines, those brave souls who fight the real fight every single day. So join me this April in making some noise to raise awareness, not only for the survivors but for those who love them.

AP new - synopsis.jpg

People always say it’s what’s on the inside that matters. If that’s the case, I’m screwed. On the outside, everything looks put together — blonde hair, blue eyes, tall and lean. By society’s standards, I’d be considered attractive. But f*ck society, I know what I am. I know what I’m made of. The recessive genes that reared their heads and created a decent looking package on the outside don’t make me who I am. What about all the evil lurking inside? What about all the other parts of me that aren’t so easy to see? Some of the most beautiful animals are also the deadliest. Take the polar bear, for example. Cute and cuddly on the outside, but it’s really a predator that will bite your f*cking head off. That’s a dangerous combination.

And that’s exactly like me, exactly who I am. Bad — and once you go bad, you can never go back.

WARNING: This book deals with the harsh reality of rape that could be upsetting for some readers.

Darra's Review:

Although I knew that the issue of rape is part of this book, it was surprising of how it happened and how it effected her. This is one thing that will stay with you forever. And Campbell believes she is the reason why terrible things occurred during her teenage years. I can't imagine how she felt when she found out what really happened that day.
Campbell stands out above many other women characters. She is strong but has nightmares of what happened. How can one live with that. Stone becomes part of her life despite she has no interest at first. You can't help but like him and how he would do anything for Campbell get stop living in her past and move forward with him. He has a heart of gold. Stone has his own issues he deals with, but wants the best for his family. Heartbreaking!

What a great story with all the characters. Loved the book and Prescott represented how strong a person can be after such a dreadful beginning. You can move on, you just need to want to.

I rate the book a 4.7.

Sunny's Review:

This books does deal with some seriously heavy issues. There are all different types of abuse and while Prescott does put a note in here for readers regarding rape there is more than just that in here. You have to deal with depression, suicide and neglect on top of sexual abuse. I think that Prescott does a great job going through these emotions with the characters.

I like Campbell. She could be somebody that you know. She works hard and is not afraid to take care of herself. I can totally understand the feelings that she has about herself as well as the world. She has had a hard life and the fact that she does handle things as well as she does is surprising. Stone is awesome. He basically had to help raise his sister and make something of himself in order to do that. He runs a gym and I love getting to see the way he feels about the gym and the members. You get to see that he cares about the women that he teaches self defense to. I don't want to give any details on their stories but I love both of these characters.

I really recommend this book. I am giving this book 4.7 stars out of 5. Go get it!!!

Layers of Her - Teaser 02.jpg

AP new - excerpt.jpg

“What made you come for me?” she asks.  I tell her my theory about men making decisions based on one of three body parts — head, heart, dick.  “So which led you to my house tonight?” she asks.

“Let’s just say two out of three ain’t bad.”

Her giggle fills up the room.  “Stone?”

“Hmm?”

“Don’t let me forget.”

“Forget what?”

“How good I feel right now,” she says.

I know exactly what she’s feeling.  She doesn’t think she deserves to be happy.  It’s a constant waiting on the other shoe to drop so you can prove to yourself that all the bad shit you fill your head with is true.  That you’re bad, and that’s why bad things happen around you, or to those you love.  Dealt with that myself when Tate got her diagnosis.  Who am I kidding?  I still fight those demons, knowing she’s suffering because of my mistakes.  Self-blame is a bitch.  Self-hatred is even worse.  Guess I’ll just have to teach Campbell to love herself as much as I love her.

Yeah, yeah, it’s fast.  But how long does it really take to fall in love with someone?  A minute?  An hour?  A day?  A year?  For me, it took exactly one kiss.  The moment her lips touched mine in that hospital room, I was gone.

Besides, what do you really have to know about a person to love them?  Not a damn thing other than how they make you feel when you close your eyes at the end of the day with them wrapped in your arms.

Hold on to Me by Lucia Franco & Review

 Genre: New Adult/Coming of Age
Series Standalone

Synopsis:
John Jackson.
He’s a sweet talking Georgia boy, rough around the edges with an irresistible smile. John sets his sights on the new girl, determined to show her what his small town is about. But she isn’t as accepting as he thought and she rejects him at every turn.

The beauty and boldness of Alyssa Winters stirs John’s blood. She quickly works her way under his skin and becomes a constant in his life – his best friend, his other half. As the attraction between the two friends grows, John wants more.

She pushes, he pulls.

When one reckless night of fun wrecks havoc on John, Alyssa risks it all to ease his pain, giving him the one thing he desires most...her. But John’s sadness runs too deep, the damage, irreparable.

He runs, she falls.

John must work to prove himself. Despite everything, Alyssa is the one person he doesn’t want to live without. The stakes are high, and he’s willing to bet it all. Even if it means he’s left to suffer alone.

Darra's Review:

Last year we had the chance to read Hold on to Me. Unfortunately I did not put my review up till now. It is really a shame because I truly loved this book. Well written with such detail and depth into who each person becomes. Truly makes you emotional involved in the life of this book.
Hold on to Me is an ongoing story of several peoples lives and how they are affected by the life choices each makes. There was so much in just the first quarter of the book. Although many books will slowly peak at the end, this is a roller coaster that has up's and down's throughout. I personally was an emotional wreck. Not saying I cried all the way through. But the excitement of when one meets for the first time, the lump in your throat of fear what will happen next, the despair of how one feels, the euphoria of what is to happen.
Alyssa is a wonderful character. Is the kind of person you will wish to read in any book. John and Jace are the people you wish you knew in real life. They live a country life that actually makes you want to be part of. Which is unreal because I am opposite. Just as Alyssa. You will change your mind quickly because you just want to hang with the two guys. They are awesome.
Real life happens and a terrible accident occurs that effect each one. This could happen to anyone, it will hit close to home. With Lucia's writing, you will feel the despair and get choked up.
You will not imagine the turn of events that happen which lead to each ones new chapter. Alyssa has a hard road ahead of her and can't imagine having to live in her shoes. Such a young life that has hardship.
John returns to his past life, which included Alyssa. Only it is not the girl he loved. Now it is time to show how both John and Alyssa can turn it around and move forward with life that they should live. I will not go further into what happens. I will just say there is so much to the plot that I cannot explain unless I make this a 10 page essay.

I am sure I have made my point many times above. Loved the book and cannot wait to read more from Lucia. Hold on to Me moved me. And with how much I read, that means this is a stand out book to remember.

I rate the book a 4.8 out of 5. Don't miss the chance to read this book.

Sunny's Review:

There are so many things that I can say about this book. I really liked this book. I have not read anything by Lucia Franco before but I am going to see what else she has out there.

I had to remind myself through this book that everyone is young. Alyssa is eighteen or nineteen and John is twenty going on twenty one. I loved John, Jace and Ford. They are the three good ole boys in small town Georgia that are trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives and just have fun while working it out. They are young and dumb but you can tell that they are really good guys. I am not going to lie. I spent a few summers doing the same things they did in this book, except I was in Texas. Again, I had to remember how young they are but otherwise these guys were great in the beginning. Alyssa deals with a lot of stuff. At first, I was annoyed with her but then as you go along, you see the mental abuse from her mother. I mean she is horrific. I am happy that Alyssa begins hanging out with John. I wish she had not let her mother color her thinking but I loved the banter between them and the fun that the whole group had when hanging out.

There is a major tragedy that changes all of their lives forever. Literally all of their worlds are tilted on the axis and will never straighten back out. They all deal with this in separate ways and none of them are healthy. John takes off and then Alyssa has to deal with different types of abuse.

After a little bit, John returns and realizes how bad he has jacked up parts of his life. He tries to fix everything and I will say it again, I had to remind myself how young they are. He tries to work everything out with Alyssa and I was so mad at Alyssa for a little bit during this part. Then I looked at how she has been treated her whole life. I understand the reasons she did what she did. I understood her fighting John at every turn. I totally love John towards the end of the book. There are a couple of times when I am like "hold on, dude, you can't talk to her like that." Then I realize why he is acting like a jerkwad. He has good intentions.

I am like Darra on this one. I could talk about it all day. I hope I did not put any spoilers in there for you. I am giving this book 4.7 stars out of 5. It is well written and there are definitely a lot of emotions that you have to deal with while reading it. Go get it!!!
