Lotus by T.L. Smith Review

Title: Lotus
Author: T.L. Smith
Genre: Romantic Suspense Standalone
Published: July 25, 2017
To break a heart is easy.
All you have to do is reach in, wrap your blood covered hands around it, and pull.
This happened to me.
Two hands, both red as my hair, did this exact thing.
Tore it away like it wasn’t made for me.
Maybe it was his to take?
Because years on, with those same blood red hands, he still has it.
In his hands.
And he won’t give it back.
But the real question is, do I want it back.
He is dangerous, uncontrollable, and downright sexy.
I fell for it all, but in the end, he didn’t catch me he let me fall.

“TL Smith's words in Lotus are like poetry woven into the fabric of the book filled with angst, passion, and love.” -Author Kristin Mayer

“Lotus was an intense, angst-filled read that had me glued to my Kindle from start to finish.” -NYT Bestselling Author Emily Goodwin

Darra's Review:

Lotus goes right into the story. What I like about it is there are glimpse's of Lotus and Orion's past. That explains the intensity of their relationship. T.L. Smith always writes a book with a solid story. One that unfolds with surprises and meaning to every character. You get the full package.

You will automatically like Lotus. Free spirit trapped in a life and relationship she does not know. There are many things in life that will effect the outcome years down the road. Now she is coming out of the fog and now see's Orion again and realizes that her life has been put on hold because she can't get past who she before.

Orion, I had mixed feelings about him at first. However his intense love for Lotus is overwhelming. The gravity between the two is unbelievable. And now it's his time to get back what he has been missing for years. Yet he still has overcome what he has done that took Lotus away.

You will feel the emotions of both characters. I could not stop reading. I loved the story, the characters and all the twists and turns that will through you for a loop.

I can for sure recommend this book. This is one of my new favorites from T.L. Smith. She has top herself and enjoyed every page.

I rate the book a 4.7 out of 5.

Sunny's Review:

The more books that I read written by T.L. Smith, the more I fall in love with her writing. I was taken in from the first page and could not put this book down. I love that this author can take some of the most tragic people and give them the most beautiful stories. This book is full of love, pain, misunderstandings and secrets. I loved the characters and could not stop reading. Orion and Lotus are totally different yet can’t stay away from each other. Orion tries to hide the darker side of his life from Lotus which causes more problems. He does not want to show her what his life is really like. I love that he tries to shelter her and she was not having it. I enjoy books that go between past and present.

If you like angst, intrigue and darker romance, this is your book. I am giving this book 4.5 stars out of 5. I can’t wait to read more from T.L. Smith.

Firefly by Molly McAdams Review

Title: Firefly
Author: Molly McAdams
Series: A Redemption Novel
Genre: Romantic Suspense

“I’m wrecked, ruined, destroyed, and in awe.” – #1 New York Times bestselling author, Rachel Van Dyken

The next captivating installment in New York Times bestselling author Molly McAdams’s Redemption series.
As the Princess of the Irish-American Mob, there’s no shortage of men ready to help guard and protect me. To slowly suffocate me to the point of seeking freedom—a place where I can breathe.
Kieran Hayes has been saving me for as long as I can remember. It’s in his blood, and one of the many reasons I fell in love with him. Until my favorite trait became his biggest flaw, making me resent the man I love. An unwavering warrior, his love for me has been shrouded by those instincts.
Save Lily. Protect Lily. Hide Lily. Cage Lily.
What I wasn’t prepared for was Dare—the man who would set my world on fire with just one touch. He saw straight through to my soul, as though he knew I was desperate for freedom, and silently demanded my heart from the beginning.
And I didn’t expect Dare to be Demitri Borello—the reason for so many deaths in my family. A man who will take my life the moment he finds out who I am.
Despite it all, I’ll love him until that moment comes.
A fire will die if there is no oxygen for it to consume. Ours is rapidly stealing every last breath we can sacrifice to it.

Darra's Review:

I have always been a fan of Molly Mcadams work. This book right here is her best so far. Loved the story, characters and all the feelings you will find wondering in your heart. You can read Firefly and feel the raw emotions from Lily. Well written and the story pull you end write till the end.

I was conflicted with my feelings about Lily and Kieren. You want them to make it. However Lily could not become her own if she continued the path she was taking. When she charters into a whole different life, she wants more.
Then she meets Dare. Among the rest of Dare's friends. Dare will melt your heart. Except in this situation they have to figure out what the next step will be. The story continues with the real life of Lilly and Dare. With all the knowledge they find out,it will leave you at a cross path. And I can tell you no more. Many other characters will intrigue you. Yes, I need to know more about Kieren. He will become the next great book.

Overall, I loved it.I am so glad I had the chance to read this book.  I rate the book a 4.6 out of 5.

“Nothing’s getting past me,” I assured her.
Her breath washed over my lips as I leaned in to kiss her again when she whispered, “I thought we were talking about you.”
I paused for a few seconds, then looked up into her hazel eyes. “What?”
“I think I’m in danger from you.”
My brow pulled tight, and I forced out a low, frustrated laugh. “Me.”
She nodded again, the movement of her head so slow as her eyes explored mine. “I need you to let me go for so many reasons, but I easily forget why when you don’t. I think there was a reason neither of us crossed that invisible barrier before today. Because being in your arms?” She hesitated, her tongue quickly darting out to wet her lips. “Trust me, it’s dangerous.”
A weight pressed down on my chest, making it hard to breathe. Because damn it if she wasn’t right.
There were dozens of girls over the years who’d meant nothing more than a night. Maybe two. Not one could I remember the name of, most I couldn’t remember their face.
Then there’d been one who I would’ve sold my soul for if I could’ve had one more night with her.
My days with her had been everything. A slow burn that had built over time until I hadn’t been able to get enough of her. Until she’d meant too much.
And there hadn’t been a girl since.
Not a second glance. Not a thought. Nothing.
Until one morning at Brooks a few years ago.
But there was nothing slow about the thoughts and needs for the girl pressed against me. There hadn’t been since the very first morning I’d found her staring at a mirror like it had the power to destroy her world. Like that possibility fascinated her.
Fuck, if I didn’t need to find out why.
Dangerous was exactly what we were. Only she had no idea just how much.
My gut twisted as unwanted thoughts entered my mind, but I pushed them away. Because I knew what I needed to do. I needed to let her go and force myself not to follow.
But when there’s a flicker of light in your life after so much darkness, it’s impossible to stay away.
And this girl burned so damn bright.
Calling to me and beckoning me toward her, and I knew no matter how many times I let her slip away, I would follow her just to catch her again.
I brushed my thumb across her full lips. “Goddamn firefly.”

A powerhouse romantic suspense that will have you questioning your morals and second guessing your view on love.

Molly grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband, daughter, and fur babies. When she’s not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach … which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies and fried pickles, and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm … or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren’t really happening.

Where The Night Ends by Melissa Toppen Release and Review

Where the Night Ends Cover Reveal

Where the Night Ends

It only takes one night—one moment, one small snippet of time—to change everything. At sixteen-years-old, Sebastian Baxter taught me that. He taught me a lot of things.

He never had to work for my heart. In some unexplainable way I think it had always belonged to him anyway.

We spent years loving each other, hurting each other, trying to forget each other, but no matter how hard I tried, I could never erase the memory of him. His eyes, his smile, his touch—these are all things that are embedded in my brain, tattooed on my skin, and etched into my heart.

Some might think our love story is over, but deep down I know it’s only just beginning.

Because it’s not about where the night begins, it’s about where it ends…

Where the Night Ends is a standalone, coming of age, romance.

Darra's Review:

I have not read too many coming of ages lately because the plot's are very similar. However in this case, it is the characters that make it so different. They move you. You will feel their emotions. This book has a story and characters that make this stand out from others.

It all starts with one party. Tess is not into the scene of the immature drunk people, including her ex. Which is a douche if you needed to know. However that is how it goes in High School. She meets Christian by chance. Who has a reputation that makes her want to steer clear of him.

However sometimes people are not who you think they are. Their home life, what everyone believes and what their futures looks like. Unfortunately life takes you for a ride that does not follow others. This is the case with Tess and Sebastian. Moving from high school to college. Everything changes, including relationships.

Many years go by and you are rooting for the two to meet again. Unfortunately it is not so easy to merge two lives that didn't include each other.

And I cannot say more. There is a lot of angst, love, heartache, surprises and disappointment. Which isn't that everyone's life story?  I enjoyed the book all the way till the end. Both Tess and Sebastian captured my heart.

I rate the book a 4.5 out of 5. And this is where you go to the links above and buy the book!
