ADD JESSE ON GOODREADS!

SYNOPSIS

Returning to Madison hurts. I thought I’d left my past behind, but the past goes on living. I carry it inside of me, it’s a piece of me. People have marked me in indelible ways and I drag the shreds of my soul behind me, trying to put my pieces back together. I’m not the Amber I used to be. I fly under the radar, try to be invisible. It doesn't always work. Drawing attention scares me. It always spells trouble. Returning to my home town is a last ditch effort to lay my demons to rest and start anew, for good this time. Meeting Jesse Lee wasn’t in the plan. Yet here he is with his heart-stopping, sexy grin, handsome like a god, shining bright. He’s full of life, full of heat, packing the energy of a thousand suns in his gaze and muscular body. Jesse burns, and the pain of being near him is sweet. But he’s foiling my plans. It’s hard to remain a ghost when he’s around. Hard to avoid his attention, to remain invisible. He sees me, really sees me, and behind his bright radiance, I can see shadows from his own past crowding in. He’s swimming hard to stay afloat even as he reaches for me. What is he afraid of? And how can he save me from drowning when he can’t even save himself? Standalone novel. No cliffhanger. *Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for young readers.*

Darra's Review:
We have been given the opportunity to review Jesse and had noticed that the first book of the Damage Control series was free on Amazon. So I had to read Micah first to make sure I didn’t miss any stories. I truly liked Micah, however you will love Jesse but in a different way.
Jesse has charisma that oozes out his pours. Okay, maybe those are  the wrong words. He is known for getting around with all woman in Madison. Not usually my type of guy. However he will be an exception for me. A tragic background that still affects him each day. He evolves and he has to put those aside to move into the future.
Amber is the one that will help him do this. Although Madison is a tough place to be because of  the past. Her memories of bullying when she was young get to her at times. Sometimes you need someone to help you along to make a new life.
Despite their differences, they make a great match. I was happy how the book ended.
I also would recommend the Inked Brotherhood books. Loved Zane and Rafe and they play main roles in the Damage Control series.
I rate the book a 4.3

EXCERPT

“Embers?” He lifts a dark brow, and I try to unstick my tongue from the roof of my mouth. Kind of hard with all that muscled, male, inked flesh in full display in front of me. He’s shirtless, and oh God, his nipples are pierced. Silver hoops pass through the small brown nubs, gleaming. His bare chest is sculpted and hard, from his pecs to the cut abs and the fine dark trail of hairs leading into the waistband of his gray jogging pants. Sweat glistens on his skin, on the colorful ink covering his arm, the swirls and lines dipping from his left shoulder down to a defined pec. A demon is tattooed there, stylized wings and a monstrous head, fading into the purple and blue of other, older-looking tats. And then of course there’s the cobra I noticed on his arm the other day. “Hey,” I say vaguely, my brain on shut-down. I swallow hard, try again. “What does the cobra stand for?” Both his brows arch now, eyes wide, their green-blue irises crystalline in the morning light. He glances down at his arm, then back at me. “What?” “What does the snake stand for?” I wave in his direction, wondering if I should cut my losses, turn about and run away right frigging now. Being antisocial is one thing – seeing it in action is another. As I’m about to turn and run, one corner of his mouth curls up. “You’re funny,” he says, and it stops me in my tracks. “No, I’m not.” “Yes, you are, trust me.” He grins. “How about we start again. Good morning, Embers.” If flames jump from my cheeks, it won’t surprise me. “Morning.” “Would you like to come inside?” he says, that sexy grin lingering on his full lips. “There might be coffee.” “No, thanks.” The need to flee is worse than ever, only I’m caught in his spell and can’t move. He’s staring at me, giving me a lazy, slow once-over, from the top of my head to my toes curling in my sandals. “What, no pet name for me today?” Oh God, what am I doing here? “Cut it out, Jesse. Don’t be an ass.” I expect a witty comeback, but instead something shutters behind his bright eyes, and strangely, I feel guilt wash over me. He rubs a hand over his face and slumps against the doorframe, muscles rolling in his arms. “This is who I am, Embers,” he drawls, closing his eyes. “What you see is what you get. I told you that you’d get tired of me soon.” But for the first time, I’m not so sure about that.

Brotherhood of Misfits, Book One Roc by Khai L. Bayne

]
Title: Brotherhood of Misfits, Book One: ROC
Author: Khai L. Bayne
Genre: Romantic Suspense, Mystery
Tour Host: DRC Promotions

Synopsis:

What would you do with a second chance at life?
Would you go back to the same things that you were doing before, or would you embrace that chance and take a new path?
Being the byproduct of a single parent home growing up, I learned quickly that life wasn’t easy and it damn sure wasn’t fair. I was faced with a choice back then; continue to stand back and watch my mother struggle with working three jobs to pay bills, put food in our stomachs, and clothes on our backs or do something about it. I chose to do something about it and for three years everything was going well, until the day that my life changed forever.
When I met Jethro-Elijah ‘Eli’ Shepard, he told me that just because I wasn’t given a choice in how my life was dealt to me, didn’t mean that I’m not given a chance. He showed me that no matter what people say about you and what life throws your way, that you always have the option to either accept it or defy the odds to become something greater.
My name is Archibald ‘Roc’ Rochester and when I was seventeen, I was given my second chance. How did it turn out? Well, you’ll just have to read my story to find out.
********This book is intended for mature audiences. It is a Fucked Up Ever After so the road to the end is not all pretty shit and unicorn farts. It contains scenes of domestic abuse and violence. If these types of scenes are a trigger or sensitive subject to anyone, please do NOT purchase. This book also contains sexual situations that are not suitable for anyone under age.********

Darra's Review:

I am a fan of Khai's and was looking forward to reading her latest book. I had to pounce on this opportunity to read the book.
Roc is a stand up guy. Despite his rocky start, which is understandable, he always means well. He has a great relationship with his co-workers. So you have an idea of what the next characters are going to be like in these upcoming books. Interesting, all I have to say.
When he see's an old friend, Kenika, he is enamored with her beauty and strength. They both are more than infatuated with each other. Which the book is very detailed.
Both have a life before now that is a bit screwed up. Their past overlaps and they must deal with the mess they lived with before.
There were moments I was worried about the outcome. Crazy ass people that are trying their best to ruin her and Roc. Sev and Lonny are really appealing to say the least. Can't wait to read more about them.
You will like the ending of the story of Roc and Kenika. A lot of suspense and craziness(putting it lightly). However I am REALLY intrigued with Jinx, Lonny and Sev. So many questions that will need to be answered in the story of those 3. WTF epilogue.

My rating for the book is a 4.3.

Darra's Review:
When I first read the synopsis, I thought it would be a bit funny that Eric planned to take residence in a blind woman’s house without knowing. However reading further into the story, it had more depth than a man squatting in her house. He knew her from his childhood and made an impression on him.
Later in life Eric is in deep into crime and has to hide out to prevent his demise. She may be his only hope to get away from his former boss/friend/accomplice that plans to kill him for money.
Eric’s feelings for Anne grow and now he is trying to make sure his tracks are covered before they find out Anne is hiding him.
As you can imagine, with a storyline like this, there will be a cliffhanger that will make you want to read more. I kept scrolling to see if there were more pages. No, there was not. I am not patient and definitely interested in finding out what happens with them next.
I liked the book. Kept my interest till the end. Several series I am reading leave me with no interest to read the next book. However this is a book that you will need to continue into the next to get some sort of closure.

I give the book a 4.

Darra's Review:

I have looked at several at Cardeno's books before however this is the first time to read one. It was not disappointing at all. When reading the synopsis, you know it would be complicated relationship. It is difficult for Ford to continue with his career and not have people judge him. Which makes feel compassion for Ford. I could not imagine how it would feel to be in his position.

Loved both Trevor and Ford. Both are different, but charismatic at the same time. It was a great love story. The relationship grows the longer you read into the book. Which is exactly how a relationship should be written. Real, raw and pulls at the strings of your heart.

I can absolutely say, I loved both characters, and loved the development of the story. Well written and makes you feel the emotions that characters go through. That is how a Romance book should be written.

My rating for this book is a 4.5 out of 5.

Short Bio: Cardeno C. - CC to friends - is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno's stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.

Sunny's Review:

If you saw my review of Speak of the Devil you know that I was really excited to get my hands on The Devil Made Me Do It. Shawna did not disappoint me. I am in a book hangover and I can't wait to find out what happens in The Devil You Know.

There are going to be some spoilers. I hate doing that but to get my feelings across I think that you need to know that you will meet Lucifer in this. I kind of loved him. Don't get me wrong. I am definitely on Team Halo and not Team Awesome and Lucifer is totally, 100% certifiably insane! Again, I kind of loved him. He had some amazing liners and so much more but I don't want to tell you because I want you to enjoy them for yourself.

I can honestly say that I feel like I need to go to Confession so that I am in good with God and his Angels. Don't want to end up in Purgatory or Hell. Luc is pretty good in this book and just gets better. I was a little bit annoyed with him at the end but I get it. He was awesome right before I got mad at him. I like Lily a lot more in this one. She is not whiny and basically gets a backbone. I love it.

There is so much more that I want to say but I don't want to give up too much. I am giving this book 4.8 stars out of 5. Anytime I can laugh and gasp, be happy and sad while getting mad at a book means that the author did an AWESOME job. Go get these and seriously enjoy.

Darra's Review:

Sunny pretty much summed it up well.

Loved Luc and their relationship shifted to so much more than just acquaintances. You want them to get together but there is so much that keeps them apart. Lily was slow at times, however she finally understood what a terrible position she ended up in.
Lucifer is charismatic? Shockingly, yes. And funny as well. I am supposed to hate him! Your emotions are toyed with and that just made me want to continue to read the book more.

Looking forward to the next book. Left us with a great cliffhanger in the end! Enjoy the read. The series is worth your time.
