Sunny's Review:

I think when I signed up for this blog tour I was picking this book for Darra. As most of you know we have been swamped and somehow I ended up reading this one. You know I am not a huge fan of the rocker boys but I try to keep an open mind. Having said this, I really like this book. I made sure that Darra started this book too. I think she is almost done (she started it Monday night) & hopefully she is enjoying it. I have not talked to her yet today.

Dylan is a super innocent girl in a lot of ways but in a lot of ways she has had to deal with things that I can't even begin to comprehend.  She has always worked really hard for her grades and has gotten where she wants to go...Harvard. Of course, when you finally get what you want life throws in some curve balls. So just as she is about to enter Harvard Law (her lifelong dream) she meets Jeremy. He doesn't really derail her so much as causes a distraction and throws her in the spotlight.

Jeremy is your typical rock star bad boy. Drugs, sex, scandal...all of it. He is supposed to be clean and will be dropped by his record label if he is caught in anymore scandal. The attraction is instant for both of them. Jeremy is trying to be what Dylan wants & needs but there are a lot of things in his life that she does not know or understand. They have a turbulent relationship to say the least.

There were a lot of hard parts for me to read in this book. Sarah Biermann shows you a side of life that many of us have no clue about. I was pretty sheltered growing up and even though I like to think that I have seen some stuff nothing prepared me for some parts. I really did like this book and I like that Sarah made me run through some different emotions.

I am giving this book 4.3 stars out of 5.  Go get this and read it!! You will not be disappointed. Make sure that you go get the next book too!!!! Trials is live and you will enjoy it!!

Darra's Review:

So obviously Sunny just explained the whole sheltered and innocent people can be. I on the other hand was talking to my book saying "Hello! He has the shakes!" I remember DARE class. They explain all the symptoms!

Jeremy definitely lives the rock star life. He is brilliant but a scared boy deep down. Dylan is complete opposite. Despite her past childhood that is not much better than Jeremy's, she has her shit straight. She plans to be a lawyer. And nothing is going to get in her way.

Of course, until she goes to a concert and meets Jeremy. Her relationship with Jeremy is a roller coaster that goes forward, backward and drops to the bottom. Extremely emotional and out of control. The kind that makes you go crazy, a good and bad way.

You do meet Scott, which he is a great guy and you will grow to like as well. Sunny loves him. I think it was because he played sports. I do love me a rocker. I am conflicted. Both Scott and Jeremy have pro's and con's. But once I read Trials, I will know who I will love most.

I rate this book a 4.3 as well. We both liked the book and right now I am aggravated I am working and not reading!

EXCERPT:

I make a disgusted sound in my throat. “I am totally fucked up by what my mother did to me,” I say, still aghast at his reaction to my story.

“Fucked up?” he questions, confused. “Why? Because you’re shy? Because you’re private? Because you don’t like to be vulnerable? Because you strive to achieve great things to prove you’re good enough to be worth something?”

The way he instantly knows me makes me very uncomfortable. I freeze, wide eyed and unable to speak for a moment. How could he see me so clearly? How did this connection between us go so deeply? It was disturbing to me, the understanding between us. It’s deeper than even the physical pull between us, as if the air that separates our bodies is electrically charged. I had worked my whole life to push people away, building up this wall of protection. And yet here is this man, tearing it down and seeing who I am through all the bullshit. Maybe I'm not as good at hiding myself as I thought.

“Yeah,” I finally muttered. “Those reasons are pretty much why.”

“It makes you beautiful. The things you say it created in you... are what attract me to you in this unbelievable way. You’re timid, shy, brilliant, and completely unaware of how amazing you are.”

I go statue still. My heart feels like it’s going to explode at his words. How did our conversation change course so quickly? I don’t know if I’m prepared for this. “Amazing?” I repeat in disbelief.
He smiles a catlike smile, like he’s hunting again. Immediately, my breathing increases. “Oh yes. When I first saw your eyes from the stage,” he leans closer to me. I want to both back away and lean toward him at the same time. “I wanted to make them roll back into your head. I wanted to grab your round hips and pull you close to me.” He crouches on the couch, one leg on and one leg off, leaning over me. With his face against my cheek again, he whispers in my ear, “You. Are. Breathtaking.”
