The Reason for Me by Prescott Lane REVIEWS!!!!

AP new - synopsis.jpg

Holt

She likes it quick and dirty.

I like orders and rules.

She hates small talk.

I hate to share.

She’s an open book.

I’m a closed dresser drawer.

She rides a Harley.

And that drives me f’ing nuts.

Annalyse and I have both lived in our own personal hells for half a decade.  She’s learned to love the warmth, and I’m still consumed.  But my new neighbor is stoking more than my libido these days.  We agreed on only pleasure.  But she changed the rules.

And now I’m not even sure what they are.

Maybe there’s a reason she found me that night, maybe there’s a reason I can’t stop thinking about her, maybe there’s a reason for the pain.  Maybe not.

We all look for reasons in life.  Reasons for death, love, pain.  Why one thing happens and not another?  It’s human nature.  We’ve been looking for the meaning of life since the beginning of time.  But maybe the reason for all of it — life, love, loss, heartache — is the curvy brunette living next door.

Darra's Review:

This book was looking like the normal Adult romance story. Which is fine because I do like this genre. However this story is memorable. Absolutely shocking scene that made me drop my mouth and reread it to make sure what I saw happened. Well written and claimed my interest and emotions all in one book.
Annalyse is a blunt and to the point. However an introvert. Her past may have to do with that. Such a horrid tragedy to live through at a young age. It makes it hard to move on. Despite her not wanting to become part of other peoples life, she goes out on a limb and does what her sister asked her to do. I enjoyed her till the end. No pussy footing about her past. She is real in who she is.
Holt is another story. Yes, he has a past that haunts him. However he plans to keep it that way. In his past and memories in his mind. He has no plans to meet someone else. But fate has other plans. Which means Annalyse stumbles into his life. She is completely different then he is. But sometimes that is what makes a relationship more dynamic.

I could continue discussing this but you will start nodding off or I will ruin it for you. However this book is worth your time.

I rate the book a 4.6 out of 5.

Sunny's Review:

I have read the last few books by Prescott Lane and I really liked them. That is why I thought I would give this book a try. I was not sure what to expect and I am happy with how this turned out. Annalyse is a writer and blogger who has had a pretty jacked up life. She was in foster care but was one of those few lucky ones that had a great foster home. She wanted to have a family of her own and was on her way to making that happen when tragedy struck her. She is trying to rebuild again when the book starts. I really liked her. She was not a whiny girl that focused solely on her misfortunes. She is open and honest about her life and how it has affected her. When she meets Holt she sees parts of herself in him. Holt is a bit of a mystery. You know that there is something in his past that has messed him up but he is not open about it. He refuses to have any type of relationship and is closed off to everyone. As he becomes closer to Annalyse, he does try to be a little bit more open but not much. There are a lot of really funny parts to this book. While the author focuses on some serious issues with the main characters she shows their other sides too.

I am giving this book 4.6 stars out of 5. It is really good and I think most people will like it.

Annalyse

“You should have on a life jacket.”

“When I kayak or when I ride my motorcycle?” I ask.

He tries not to smile, but he does.  “Pissed, huh?”

“Observant, aren’t you?”

“Motorcyclists are twenty-five percent more likely to die and five times more likely to be injured than a passenger in a car,” he says.

“You looked that up just to lecture me, didn’t you?”

“Not the point,” he says.  “No more motorcycle.”

Did he really think he could go all alpha male on me?  Usually, it would be hot as all-get-out to see a man in control, dominant, but right now alpha equals asshole!   Note to self — I should do a blog post on that.  Where have all the good alphas gone?  “Who do you think you are?” I say, walking away.  “You’re not my husband or my father.  Come to think of it, I wouldn’t let my father or husband order me around like this.”

His fingers lightly touch my elbow.  It isn’t a grab.  I barely feel it, and as quickly as he touched me, it’s over.  “I’m a doctor.  I’ve seen what . . .”

“You’re a gynecologist!  You’ve seen what a motorcycle can do to a vagina?”

Oh God, I’m in trouble.  He’s got the dirtiest look in his eye.  “I’d imagine the vibration would feel pretty damn good.”

I can’t help it and bust out laughing.  “You are impossible.”

“And it’s the law to carry a life vest for every person in a kayak,” he says.
I roll my eyes.  “You like rules.”

“I like order.”

“Ordering people around,” I say.

“Only certain people,” he says.

Don’t ask me why, but the thought of him “ordering” me around made my legs clench together, or maybe it was the mention of vibrations.  Either way, the idea of him taking control of my body didn’t sound bad to me at all.  It would be nice to not think so damn much all the time and just feel something good for a change.

Reading Funk...HELP!!!

Why am I in a reading funk???

Over the last few months my life has spiraled out of control. Every time I have tried to find something to read, I can't really get interested. I have read so many books that I would normally love but my overall feeling are MEH. It is really frustrating. The only good thing about this, I know that I am the issue so I am not giving low reviews because of my feelings. I have tried to read total fluff to make myself happy and it has not helped. I have tried reading totally different books than what I have read in the past. I have tried scary books, ghost books, classics and all are MEH.

So what do you do to get yourself out of a funk? Is there one go to book that will guarantee to get you back to normal?

AP new - synopsis.jpg

The whole world might be in love with him. But all he’s ever loved is her.

Grant Turner’s name is synonymous with football. The fans and media can’t get enough of the player known as The Invincible Man, a nickname he earned while growing up in one of the toughest neighborhoods in the country and the nickname he’s kept by being one of the best players in professional football today. No one can take him down. He’s unstoppable.

But even a suit of armor has its weak point, and Grant’s has always been Ryan Hale.
They were a couple of kids when they fell in love, and just when it looked like the happy ending neither expected was within reach, Ryan disappeared. No explanations. No good-byes.

Grant coped by throwing himself into the game for seven years, and he’s finally moved on. Or so he thinks.

When she walks back into his life, all of those feelings come crashing back, despite the warnings in his head that tell him she’ll leave him again. Grant can withstand the league’s toughest defensive line, but he’s always been weak where she’s concerned.

No man can take Grant Turner down.

But one woman certainly can.

One woman will.

Sunny's Review:

I love sports romance and I am going to be honest when I say at the beginning of this book, I did not think that I was going to like this one. Luckily, my opinion changed. You have Ryan, who left town seven years ago and cut herself off from everyone in her life. She had a very bad childhood and there were a few people that helped her. She hurt those people when she left and when she has to come back for a funeral it is not to open arms. She did not expect anything different but she knew she needed to tell Grant something important. Grant also grew up in the tough neighborhood and he took care of Ryan growing up. They were best friends and started dating. He worked hard to get out and make a name for himself in football.

There is a lot more in this book than just the romance and second chances. I was heartbroken when I got to Ryan's secret and I was amazed at Grant's reaction to it. He is basically as perfect as a guy can get. I understood his response and I understood hers too. It was a great read and I loved the way it all unfolded. I don't think I can say anything else without giving too much away.

I am giving this book 4.5 stars out of 5. Go get it and enjoy!!!

Grant motioned for me to wait when I started to open my door, then he jogged around to open it himself. “This is a date. That means I drop you off in front, walk you up to the front door . . .”
He took my hand and helped me out, grinning all goofy-like when the hem of my dress slid up my legs as I crawled out.
“Give me a goodnight kiss?” I added as I let him take my hand.
He peered over at me, brow raised. “Or a good night something.”
Giving him a light shove, I tried not to pretend that a good night something sounded as appealing to me as it did to him. “I never should have told you it’s been seven years since my last time.”
“Yes, you definitely should have.”
“Why’s that?”
He grinned at the ground. “Because I can use that knowledge in my favor.”
“How does knowing that work in your favor?” I angled toward him as we climbed the stairs together.
After we’d stopped in front of the door, he turned and pulled me closer. “Because I know how bad you need it now.”
The skin on the back of my neck raised, my lips parting from the acceleration of my breath. “How do you know it’s not a case of the longer you go without it, the less you need it?”
“No,” he said at last, his head slowly shaking. “Not with something like that. Not with someone like you.” Grant moved closer, not stopping until his chest was pressing into mine, walking me backward until my back ran into the wall. “In fact, I bet you’ve gone so long, I could barely touch you and you’d fall apart in my arms. Am I right?”
My chest was brushing against his, my legs feeling weak from what was happening. Or what was about to happen. Or what I was imagining was about to happen.
“No,” I whispered, “you’re not right.”
His eyes called me out. “There’s only one way to know who’s right.” He kissed the outside of my neck before lightly sucking on my earlobe.
The moan he drew from me seemed to sweep across the entire estate. My hand clamped over my mouth, but he pried it away.
“No. I don’t want you stifling the sounds you make for me.” Holding my wrist, he slid my hand up the wall until my arm was fully extended above me. The stone was still warm from the sun, heat seeping into my skin. “Other hand,” he ordered before sinking his teeth into my lobe.
The sensation made me jolt against him, but all he did was press his body into mine harder until I felt trapped between two walls of stone. When I lifted my other hand for him, he gathered it up in his hand with my other wrist. The task of winding around both of my wrists was no challenge for hands the size of his.
Once he had me pinned, he rocked his hips into mine, practically lifting me up the wall. Another moan escaped from my mouth, but this one was more a cry of pleasure. He was right. He’d barely have to touch me.
His other hand moved from the bend of my hip to reach something above us.
“What are you doing?” I breathed, my ribs feeling as though they’d crack from the way my heart was pounding.
“Unscrewing this light bulb,” he said, right before the wash of light disappeared and darkness moved in around us. “And now, I’m going to take care of you.”

Holt

I can see the questions in her eyes.  Naked, I get on my knees in the bed, helping her up, her body pressing into mine, and lift her shirt over her head.  I can’t help but grin that she’s borrowed one of mine.  My hands slide down the curve of her waist and under the cotton of her panties, removing them.  Her hand softly strokes my cheek, and like an asshole, I jerk my head back, her soft touch doing damage to the hard defenses I’ve built.  How is that?  How can something so soft, so sweet, be my undoing?  And damn, the way she looks at me.  I can’t have her looking at me like that right now.  In one move, I flip her over and yank her ass in the air.

Her breath catches.  Dammit, sometimes I wish I could be one of those guys that only think about themselves during sex, but I’m not built that way.  Annalyse’s pleasure will always be more important than my own, and that’s just one small fucking step away from all her needs coming before my own.  It’s a slippery slope I’m on.

Using the tip of my cock, I outline her folds, feeling her open, drawing me in.  Running my finger down the curve of her back, her body rolls, her ass pushing against me.  She’s got the best ass, pure white, smooth skin, firm, but enough to hold onto.

“Holt,” she begs softly.

She’s very impatient when it comes to her orgasms.  That’s a great quality in a woman; she wants what she wants and doesn’t apologize for it.  As I slip myself inside her, she lets out a breathless moan.  It’s amazing how well I know her sounds, her body already.  Holding her hips, I slide in and out, slowly.  Grinning, I know she’s going to hate and love that at the same time.  She likes to come quickly.  It’s almost like she’s afraid there’s not enough time.  She starts to move faster, wanting me deeper, and harder.  And I’m powerless to resist her, incapable of not giving her exactly what she wants.

And when she screams out my name, I follow right behind her.  My body covers hers as we lay collapsed in our orgasmic hangover.  Moving her hair off her face, I look down at her closed eyes, missing seeing the way she looks when she comes.  “Every night,” I say quietly, “I want you in my bed, naked, waiting.”

She doesn’t open her eyes, but a little smirk crosses her lips.  “Orders, orders.”

Kissing her neck, I nibble her earlobe.  “Say you’ll be here.”  She rolls over, her eyes meeting mine for the first time.  A subtle guilt rises in my chest; I just fucked her to feel better, to forget.  And I want to do it again.
